An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system is provided. The airbag arrangement comprising an airbag folded into an airbag package, a cover that may be evacuated and encloses the airbag package, a gas generator for inflating the airbag, a receptacle formed by a section of the cover enclosing the airbag package and in which at least one section of the gas generator is housed. The airbag comprising an opening, which forms an inlet to an inflatable area of the airbag and in which the receptacle is arranged at least sectionally or into which the receptacle projects. The gas generator is formed as a tubular gas generator. The opening has a hollow cylindrical area in which the receptacle is arranged, or the opening is formed as a hole in an airbag layer which forms a chamber of the airbag.
Abstract:
A knee airbag device for a vehicle is provided that is capable of effectively protecting both knees of a seat occupant, regardless of position, shape or the like of an airbag door relative to the seat. In a passenger seat knee airbag device, a tear line of an airbag door retainer is broken and airbag doors are deployed upward and downward by deployment force of a knee airbag that receives a gas supply from an inflator. Thus, the knee airbag is deployed toward the knees of the occupant through an aperture portion formed in the airbag door retainer. A tear line of a form that is non-symmetrical between left and right is formed in a retaining sheet that is for retaining the knee airbag in a folded state. Thus, timings of deployment of the airbag doors by inflation pressure of the knee airbag are caused to differ between a left side portion and a right side portion.

The operation efficiency is improved by enabling a gas rectifying member of an airbag device to be easily disposed in a folded airbag. An airbag in a folded state is accommodated around an inflator of an airbag device, and a gas rectifying member (12) for guiding gas is disposed between the airbag and the inflator surrounded by the airbag. The gas rectifying member (12) includes a retained portion (12A) retained, together with the airbag, around the inflator and a free-standing tubular gas-flow guide portion (12B) standing upright from the retained portion (12A), which are formed as a single part from a base fabric. The airbag is folded in a state in which the retained portion (12A) is retained inside the airbag. At this time, the gas-flow guide portion (12B) is less likely to be sandwiched between the airbag, because it is standing in the airbag.

The airbag device includes: an inflator; an airbag so as to be inflated and deployed in a bag shape by the gas introduced from the inflator; and an outer bag formed of a sheet-like member to be sewn into a three-dimensional shape having an outer-bag-side bottom and an outer-bag-side peripheral wall portion provided on an outer periphery of the outer-bag-side bottom, the outer-bag-side bottom being secured to the inflator, the outer-bag-side peripheral wall portion surrounding the folded airbag and being disposed so as to be sandwiched between the airbag being inflated and deployed and the lid-side peripheral wall portion.

The sleeve comprises a first and a second sleeve part. The first sleeve part and the second sleeve part each include at least one flange portion. The two flange portions are connected with each other and initially protrude from the remaining airbag package, after they have been connected with each other. The two flange portions are at least partly folded such that they extend along an outer surface of the remaining airbag package.

The invention relates to an airbag module for a motor vehicle, comprising a gas sack package comprising a gas sack, an additional moveable element configured and provided to influence a state variable of the airbag, and a gas-tight protective covering that defines an inner space of the gas sack package, wherein the gas sack and the moveable element are arranged in said inner space, and a separate movement generating device configured and provided to move the moveable element. According to the invention, the movement generating device is arranged outside the inner space of the airbag package.

It is characterized in that a gas rectification member (12′) for rectifying and guiding a gas generated from an inflator (30) up to the vicinity of a part of the airbag (10), inflating in the initial stage of the expansion thereof, is provided substantially at the central part of the airbag (10).

An airbag deployment control system for use in a vehicle seat having a trim cover. The airbag deployment control system includes an upper outer liner member having a first end for coupling to an airbag module and a second end for coupling to the trim cover, and a lower outer liner member having a first end for coupling to the airbag module and a second end for coupling to the trim cover. The trim cover is for covering at least a portion of the vehicle seat and the airbag module. The trim cover includes a burst seam for the airbag member to deploy through the trim cover by rupturing at the burst seam upon inflation of the airbag member. The upper outer liner member and the lower outer liner member control deployment of the inflatable airbag member at least two locations.
