Abstract:
This invention is directed to a fiber reinforced adhesive composition comprising a pressure sensitive adhesive matrix and a fibrous reinforcing material within the pressure sensitive adhesive matrix. The adhesive composition has a yield strength and a tensile strength. The tensile strength is at least about 150% of the yield strength. Generally, the adhesive composition exhibits these properties at least 50% elongation when measured according to ASTM D 882-97 at a crosshead speed of 12 inches/minute (30 centimeters/minute).

Abstract:
An optically transparent adhesive article for fastening the rear face of a display overlay to the front face of a display. The article includes first and second adhesive layers and an optional intervening backing layer. The first adhesive layer has sufficiently low tack so that the article is repositionable on the display of the display. The second adhesive layer has sufficient tack and the article has sufficient cohesive strength so that the article is stretch-releasable from the display overlay.
Abstract:
An adhesive tape construction is removable from one or more objects to which it is adhered and which is reusably separable within its construction so that an object can be separated from another and subsequently reconnected with one another. The adhesive tape construction can be used to bond the other opposed surfaces of objects, including rigid objects such as a picture frame to a wall, where no portion of the adhesive tape construction projects from between the objects, and which subsequently affords easy separation of the objects without damage to either of them. More specifically, the adhesive tape construction includes a stretch release adhesive tape structure combined with a reusable connector surface.
Abstract:
At least one-sidedly self-adhesively treated backing material which is coated partially with a self-adhesive composition and which under a tensile load of 10 N/cm has an extension of greater than 10% so that the backing material following application can be detached from the substrate by pulling in the direction of the bond plane.
Abstract:
An adhesive sheet strip for a bond which is redetachable without residue or destruction by extensive stretching in the bond plane, having a pressure sensitive adhesive based on styrene block copolymers, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive comprises an acid-modified and/or acid anhydride-modified elastomer.
Abstract:
An adhesive sheet strip, single-sidedly or double-sidedly pressure-sensitively adhering, redetachable by extensive stretching pulling on a grip tab in the direction of the bond plane, wherein the grip tab is such that it has a static frictional force Fs of at least 170 cN.
Abstract:
An adhesive article adapted for removable adhesive bonding on a support surface, such as a wall, includes a base member and a stretch release adhesive tape strip. The adhesive tape strip is a sequential release-type adhesive strip having a non-adhesive end portion which allows the base member to release from the adhesive strip during the removal process while the adhesive strip remains adhered to the support surface, therefore reducing the incidence of unwanted catapulting. To prevent relative movement between the base member and the adhesive strip during the removal process and therefore increase the likelihood of successful controlled sequential release of the base member, the base member includes a stabilizer arranged to abut the adhesive strip if the base member shifts as the adhesive strip is stretched during removal. The stabilizer can be a generally rigid projection or a compressible stop member which extends outwardly from the end of the base member adjacent the end of the adhesive strip.
Abstract:
Double-sided adhesive tape strip for rereleasable adhesive bonds, comprising an adhesive composition based on a) thermoplastic rubber and b) tackifying resins, the adhesive tape possessing c) high elasticity and d) low plasticity and e) the adhesion being lower than the cohesion, f) the adhesion largely disappearing when the tape is extended, g) the ratio of peel force to tensile strength being 1:1.5 or more, and h) an adhesive bond produced therewith being detachable by pulling on the adhesive tape in the direction of the bond plane, characterized in that i) the adhesive composition comprises an admixed reactive resin.
Abstract:
Adhesive tape for a bond which can be redetached by pulling, without residue or damage, having a foam backing coated on one or both sides with a self-adhesive composition, characterized in that a) on at least one of the two sides of the foam backing there is applied a self-adhesive composition whose ratio of tear strength to stripping force (peel force) at a peel angle of less than 10° to the bond surface is greater than 1.2:1, and b) the foam backing has a modulus of electricity of less than 16 MPa and a thickness of 200-600 &mgr;m.
Abstract:
Conformable pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes which comprise a layer of polymeric foam in the backing and may be adhered firmly to a substrate and thereafter removed therefrom after only being stretched at an angle no greater than about 35null from the surface of the substrate. Articles for mounting an object such as a picture to a surface such as a wall comprising a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape of the invention are also described.
