Abstract:
An integrated chassis and compressed gaseous fuel system of an automotive vehicle provide long-range fuel capacity for the automotive vehicle. The chassis is a support structure defining at least one cavity in which a respective tank of compressed gaseous fuel is accommodated. By so designing the chassis to specifically accommodate a discrete tank(s) of compressed gaseous fuel, a much larger volume of fuel can be stored in the vehicle than in the case where existing storage space, such as trunk space, in a conventional automobile is used to store the compressed gaseous fuel. Accordingly, the present invention greatly increases the range of automotive vehicles powered by compressed gaseous fuel.
Abstract:
A fire resistant tank apparatus adapted for transportation and for installation above-ground to receive and dispense a liquid hydrocarbon or hydrocarbons, or the like, comprising a tank assembly having lightweight wall structure defining inner wall structure, and in certain instances outer wall structure, there being primary space between the inner wall structure, and the outer wall structure; first structure on the assembly defining access porting to a tank interior defined by the assembly; a bottom wall defined by the assembly adapted to support the assembly at an installation site; thermal barrier material associated with the wall structure to effectively define a shell about the tank interior; and structure adjacent the wall structure to support a dispenser for the liquid hydrocarbon or hydrocarbons, or the like, that structure may include a platform unit projecting sidewardly adjacent a lower portion of the outer wall structure, for supporting the dispenser in adjacent relation to the side of the outer wall structure. A portable, metallic support plate and berm may be provided for use below the tank apparatus.
Abstract:
A cryogenic vessel includes an inner product container and an outer jacket surrounding the inner product container with an insulating space between them. Two supports are provided to support the inner product container within the outer jacket. Each support is an annularly corrugated sheet of material extending radially between the product container and the jacket.
Abstract:
An fiber optic liquid level indicator with a floating reflector includes a reference scale provided with a reflector disposed in an upper space above the liquid level within a pressure vessel so that a reference distance usable to correct error due to pressure can be calculated on the basis of travel time of a laser beam pulse emitted from a laser generator and reflected from the reference scale reflector through an optical guide and lens. A beam change-over switch is used to selectively guide a laser beam pulse to either the floating reflector or to the reference scale reflector so that pulse travel time can be determined.
Abstract:
A simple and reliable liquid level control for controlling the level of a cryogenic fluid within an enclosure for an electrical component. This totally mechanical system varies the flow rate of the cryogenic fluid from a supply conduit until the full level is attained at which point the flow is completely turned off. Details of materials used and construction considerations made in order to operate in this somewhat unstable environment are presented. The design includes the passages for exhausting the evaporated cryogenic fluid that is boiled off by the heat from the electrical component in the enclosure.
Abstract:
A cryogenic storage vessel and method for a high value cryogenic liquid wherein a second cryogenic liquid is utilized as a refrigerant. The refrigerant cryogenic liquid is caused to pass between a large reservoir and a small accumulator by differential pressure caused by heat leak into the vessel whereby the refrigeration of the cryogenic liquid is more efficiently employed for cooling.
Abstract:
A pair of angle iron chocks are disposed with one flange of each chock in confronting relation with a like flange on the other chock on a common supporting surface and opposing sides of a horizontally disposed cylinder. A length of flexible strapping is threaded at its respective end portions through a plurality of outstanding loops transversely secured to the surfaces of each chock in a manner to maintain the chocks in close proximity with respect to the adjacent arcuate surface of the cylinder.
Abstract:
A protective propane tank valve housing assembly for motor vehicle propane fuel tanks, has an elongated propane fuel tank with a set of controls disposed on the tank and spaced apart in a direction lengthwise thereon. A casing has side and end panels, which define a side opening of the casing. A casing cover is pivotally connected at a first end panel, and swingable between a closed position in which the casing cover lies adjacent, and covers, the side opening of the casing, and an open position outwardly pivoted from the closed position. The casing cover further has a first flange extending from a second end of it. A second flange extends from the second end panel of the casing, and mates with first flange when the casing cover is closed. Such an arrangement allows a lock to extend between the first and second flanges, to lock the casing cover in the closed position. In a typical installation, the casing is already provided on the fuel tank, and the casing cover and the second flange, are mounted on brackets which are connected to the casing.
Abstract:
A pneumatic power supply for use in powering servo controls and actuators s a filament wound composite and aluminum ultra-high pressure vessel containing helium within which there is mounted an internal pyrotechnic heat generating element to provide thermal energy to the system. The heater compensates for adiabatic cooling of the gas inventory during blow down, i.e., during delivery of high pressure gas to power pneumatic servo controls and actuators in missiles. At the beginning of the blowdown, the heater element burns at a predetermined rate which adds heat to the compressed gas so that the gas temperature remains relatively constant, effectively increasing run time. The pressurized gas is delivered by means of a pressure regulator from the pressure vessel to the delivery system for use in the pneumatic control system.

The present invention concerns a portable gas supply station comprising two or more gas bottles or cylinders for welding and other applications. The gas cylinders are mounted via their necks in a block. A movable handle makes it possible to open and close the gas lines simultaneously. In its carrying position, the handle ensures closure which allows complete safety. The gas supply station is particularly suitable for welding, soldering, flame cutting and other applications.
