摘要： In a process and apparatus to automatically make textile sleeves for toothed belts, a continuously fed fabric 4a is cut to obtain a plurality of cloths 7 of predetermined sizes. The cloths 7 are joined together by sewing them along respective edges that are perpendicular to the cut thus forming a continuous textile band 12. The front end 12b of the textile band 12 is locked to a predetermined position after a band moving step is carried out. During the movement, a photoelectric cell 46 and an encoder 28 identify the distance between the front end 12b of the band and the first connecting seam 12a. If this distance is less than a minimum value, the band 12 is cut upstream of the seam 12a and the moving step is repeated. If the distance exceeds the minimum value, the band is formed into a loop 44 of predetermined width. During this step the distance between the last connecting seam 12a and the point of the cut is identified to establish whether the band 12 is to be cut and a sleeve formed with the obtained length 20 or whether it is necessary to modify the width of the loop 44 so as to increase the distance beyond the minimum value.

摘要： In the apparatus of this invention a plurality of cylindrical matrices 2 are used to form tubular sleeves of elastomeric material to be later cured and cut into short segments to be used as belts, usually toothed belts. A coiling station 8 places a reinforcing fiber helically around the entire length of the sleeve. The matrix having the coils is then turned to a vertical position by a transfer member 28 and transferred, by means of an adjacent rotating platform 6 to a winding station 9 for application of a sheet of elastomeric material over the thread. The matrix having the completed but uncured sleeve is then placed back on the rotating platform. The coiling station and the winding station each have a tilting member 34 or 43 with two pairs of arms 39 or 52 so that while a completed matrix is swung out of the working position, a fresh matrix is swung into position.

摘要： An arrangement for cutting thin-walled reinforced closed bands of rubber into rectangular belts having the same width is suggested wherein the closed band is tensioned between two rollers. By deflecting one of the two rollers, the closed band experiences a force component parallel to the roller fixed in position which drives the closed band against a stop. With this arrangement of the stop on the end facing toward the cutting device even thin-walled closed bands can be cut into rectangular belts with a uniformity in width not attained previously.

The press jacket comprises a radially inner layer of elastomeric material which is provided with embedded layers of reinforcing yarns, an inner longitudinal layer of yarns extending under tension between the lateral ends of the endless tubular press jacket and a helical winding of peripheral yarns pretensioned and wrapped around the longitudinal yarns. The longitudinal yarns are held pretensioned radially above a casting mandrel and the casting nozzle moves along the axis of the casting mandrel delivering a helix of castable jacket material around the casting mandrel. At the same time, the later peripheral yarns are applied into the longitudinal yarns in the applied jacket material.

摘要： A process which includes providing a preform including a polymeric material formed to permit the introduction of a fluid under pressure into the preform, heating the preform to a temperature at or above the glass transition temperature of the polymeric material and below the melting temperature of the polymeric material, placing the heated preform into a substantially cylinderical mold with a polished seamless inside surface, introducing a fluid under pressure into the heated preform while maintaining the preform axially centered in the mold, thereby causing the preform to expand without contacting the mold surface, subsequently causing the preform to expand until it contacts the mold surface, heating the expanded preform to an appropriate heat setting temperature above the stretching temperature and below the melting temperature of the polymeric material while maintaining fluid pressure, and subsequently cooling the set preform, resulting in formation of a biaxially oriented seamless belt. The thin walled, high surface quality biaxially oriented seamless belt thus formed is then either used as a substrate for an electrophotographic or ionographic imaging member or used as a paper handling belt in the document handler of an electrophotographic copier.
