Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform methods for improvements to security checks in a fifth generation (5G) New Radio (NR) network, including mechanisms to avoid redundant access stratum (AS) security checks. The wireless device may determine that an on-demand system information block (SIB) request is pending transmission and may buffer the on-demand SIB in response to determining that a connection establishment procedure will be initiated within a specified time period. The wireless device may then perform a unified security procedure for the on-demand SIB request and the connection establishment procedure, including confirming connection security. Further, in response to confirming connection security, the wireless device may use an on-demand SIB received from the network without confirming a corresponding on-demand SIB signature.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting message mapping via time and/or frequency indexing. For example, these techniques may be applied to device-to-device wireless communication. For example, device to device discovery may use message mapping via frequency indexing. A portion of the payload of a message, such as a discovery message, may be offloaded to a frequency and/or time index. A receiving device may determine the offloaded portion of the payload based on the frequency and/or time (e.g., subcarrier and/or slot) used to transmit the message.

The first synchronization sequence may include multiple repetitions of a basis sequence, multiplied by a cover code. The basis sequence may span multiple orthogonal frequency division multiplexing symbols.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to prioritize cells that support EN-DC over similar cells not supporting EN-DC. The UE may be configured to perform one or more measurement scans associated with cell selection and/or cell re-selection and may determine whether at least two LTE cells meet a selection criteria based on RSRP and/or SNR measurements. The UE may be configured to, in response to determining that at least two LTE cells meet the selection criteria, prioritize a first LTE cell of the at least two LTE cells over a second LTE cell of the at least two LTE cells based, at least in part, on support EN-DC. The first LTE cell may indicate support of EN-DC, e.g., via a ULI IE included in a SIB2 broadcast by the first LTE cell. The UE may be configured to select the first LTE cell for camping.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for performing presence discovery in a wireless communication. A wireless device may monitor a wireless medium for discovery signals. A candidate discovery signal may be detected. A frequency offset estimation consistency check may be performed on the candidate discovery signal. A peak to sidelobe ratio check may be performed on the candidate discovery signal. The wireless device may determine whether the candidate discovery signal is a false positive based at least in part on the frequency offset estimation consistency check and the peak to sidelobe ratio check.

Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment (UE) device to adaptively provide enhanced the quality of service (QoS) for an application. The UE may request a dedicated bearer or flow for communications conducted over a network between a UE application and a server associated with the application. The UE may use various information, including a QoS profile associated with the application, to determine requested QoS parameters and/or determine whether to provide the enhanced QoS functionality, e.g., whether to request the dedicated bearer/flow from the network. These techniques may tend to provide more appropriate QoS to the application, which may improve user experience.

Abstract: Mechanisms enabling link-budget-limited (LBL) devices to more effectively perform random access may include: (1) broadcasting a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) configuration index (PCI) reserved for LBL devices; (2) configuring LBL devices to use a PCI that is offset from the conventional PCI of current cell; (3) configuring LBL devices to transmit PRACH messages using an alternative set of subframes, different from conventionally-defined subframe set; (4) configuring LBL devices to transmit PRACH messages on odd frames when the conventional PRACH configuration specifies even frames; (5) configuring LBL devices to generate and use extra PRACH preambles that are not used by non-LBL devices; (6) configuring LBL devices to use group B preambles while non-LBL devices are configured to use group A preambles; and (7) boosting power of a random access response message after an Nth random access failure with preamble conforming to an LBL-reserved pattern of preambles.

Abstract: An enhanced listen-before-talk procedure may be performed by a device for efficiently accessing and utilizing available resources. The procedure may include specifying input parameter values pertaining to intended wireless communications of the device, adjusting output parameter values based on the input parameter values and an access history of the device, and determining whether to access at least a portion of the wireless communication resources to conduct the wireless communications, based at least on the output parameter values. The output parameter values may pertain to wireless communication resources accessible to the device, and the access history may keep track of wireless communication resource accesses previously made by the device. Input parameter values may include requested channel occupation time, requested frequency resource, requested transmission power, and/or priority and/or urgency of requested transmission, while output parameter values may include energy detection threshold, contention window size, and/or extended clear channel assessment bypass.

Abstract: A device, system, and method uses a high power mode for a cellular connection. The method is performed at a device that is configured to establish a network connection to a network. The method includes detecting a number of at least one event that has occurred over a time period, the at least one event associated with operations used through the network connection, the at least one event indicative of a power to perform the operations that is greater than a predetermined power. When the number is at least a predetermined threshold, the method includes identifying the network connection as being in a high power state. The method includes activating settings when the network connection is in the high power state, the settings reducing a usage of the operations over the network connection.
