Abstract:
A device for applying a spot embossing pattern to a web of multi-ply tissue paper being processed in a paper converting machine comprises a marrying roll and a spot embossing unit cooperating and being positioned against the marrying roll. the spot embossing unit comprises a spot embossing roll with a raised embossing pattern on its circumferential surface. The at least two plies of tissue web are combined with a marrying roll and pass between the marrying roll and the spot embossing unit.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is an absorbent paper product including at least three plies, and a method of manufacture therefore. The absorbent paper product is of an approximate specific surface weight between 36 and 105 g/m2, and includes at least three plies, namely a central ply and two embossed upper and lower outer plies each including salient patterns composed of at least in part discrete protrusions. The plies are joined by joining at least part of the protrusions of each of the outer plies to the central ply. At least one of the outer plies has a pattern density larger than 30 protrusions/cm2. The embossed lower outer ply (2) includes combined high and low patterns (5 and 7) of respective heights (H) and (h). The central ply (4) and the embossed upper outer ply (3) are joined in the nested mode to the embossed lower outer ply (2) at the level of at least part of the tops of the high pattern (5) of height (H) of the embossed lower outer ply (2).
Abstract:
A device for embossing and laminating a multiple-web web material, comprising: a first and second embossing cylinder (1, 3), provided with tips and arranged with parallel and adjacent axes so as to farm a nip (G) between them; a pair of pressure rollers, (5, 7), each of which cooperates with one of the embossing cylinders; an adhesive applicator (17) associated with the first embossing cylinder; and a laminating roll (13) arranged downstream of the nip (G) between the embossing cylinders (1, 3) and cooperating with the first embossing cylinder (1). Planes (P3, P5) contain axis (1A, 3A) of each embossing cylinder (1, 3) and the axis (5A, 7A) of the corresponding pressure roll (5, 7) are both inclined with respect to the plane. (P2) containing the axes (1A, 3A) of the embossing cylinders at an angle different from 0 and 90 degrees.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a high speed embossing and adhesive printing process, said process comprising the steps of (a) applying an adhesive to a conformable heated glue application roll; (b) applying said adhesive to a first patterned embossing roll, having an outer surface, which is engaged with a second patterned embossing roll having a complementary pattern to said first embossing roll; (c) passing a web of sheet material between said first and second embossing rolls at a tangential line speed to simultaneously emboss said web and apply said adhesive to said web, such that said adhesive forms an adhesive pattern between embossments; and (d) applying a renewable release agent to the outer surface of the first patterned embossing roll.
Abstract:
Installation for the manufacture of a multi-layer material, particularly for the manufacture of a material using paper webs, comprises a formation station (1) of a first paper web (8) issued from a first paper feeding station, a gluing unit (9), a second paper feeding station producing a second paper web (14) to be laid on the first paper web (8), which have been deformed in the formation station (1), by means of a pressing cylinder (15), a longitudinal cutting station (17), a transverse cutter (22) and a stacking station (29). The formation station (1) produces a structured web (2) comprising alveolar deformations, the structure configuration of said structured web (2), once this one is covered by the second paper web (14), constituting an assembled unit with a mechanical resistance identical in at least two directions.
Abstract:
An embossed multiple ply paper product having a nested latticework embossment pattern providing a cloth-like, quilted appearance and a process for embossing and bonding such multiple ply paper product. The multiple ply paper product comprises a latticework of cells composed of n rows of embossment elements nested within an interfacing latticework of cells composed of n+1 rows of embossment elements.
Abstract:
A laminate having two or more plies. The plies are embossed, and adhesively joined together. The adhesive forms an essentially continuous network. The essentially continuous network increases the strength of adhesive, increases the strength of the laminate, and is disposed within the X-Y plane of the laminate coincident the embossments.
Abstract:
An embosser can emboss two webs of sheet material with either nested or foot-to-foot embossments. The embosser includes two steel embossing rolls which are engraved with the same embossing pattern. When foot-to-foot embossments are desired, the embossing rolls are positioned so that the corresponding embossments on the two rolls are aligned. When nested embossed are desired, one of the embossing rolls is moved either axially or circumferentially, or both, relative to the other embossing roll so that embossments on the two rolls nest.
Abstract:
An embossed multiple ply paper product and process for producing such product displaying aesthetically pleasing decorative attributes and exhibiting functional characteristics of softness, absorbency, and drape. The decorative attributes comprise embossed patterns of indicia displaying a high quality cloth-like appearance for a softer, more quilted look. The plies are joined in a face-to-face arrangement by selective bonds which are limited to the indicia, in order to produce more permanent decorative figures that inhibit dissipation caused by compressive forces, humidity, absorption, etc.
Abstract:
The present invention is generally directed to single ply scrim-like wiping products having great softness and strength. The wiping products are made from a paper web containing softwood fibers in combination with bicomponent fibers. Once formed, the paper web is treated on each side with a bonding agent in a preselected pattern. Both sides of the paper web are also creped. In order to create a wiping product with a scrim-like appearance, a reticular pattern is then embossed into the paper web. Specifically, the pattern is permanently imprinted into the product by compressing and fusing together the bicomponent fibers contained within the lines of the pattern.
