An enhanced radio system is disclosed that provides for the capture and playback of one or more radio stations. A user may tune to a station, scan through stations, rewind through missed content (even while the system is off), and fast-forward through undesired content, while downloading and uploading audio content, and sending content to another user. A user may rate content, and be notified when that content is played on any station, with undesirable content skipped and desirable content saved, or station recommendations made. Support for multiple sets of configuration information to allow use by multiple listeners and in multiple locations may be provided. Optionally provided are security features to prevent the unauthorized downloading, uploading, and saving of copies of content, other radio related and content related information, a karaoke mode, integration with a telephone with the radio, or reporting usage information to a collection facility.

Aspects describe conveying unicast information and broadcast information in a resource set for a transmission request. The unicast information and broadcast information can be transmitted at substantially the same time. Power control can be applied separately to the unicast information and the broadcast information for reliable decoding. A null request can be indicated by “00” bits in a unicast portion and a zero power level in the broadcast portion.

Data broadcast data, which is broadcast in data broadcasts, is constructed by disposing, for example, EMD (Electric Music Distribution) links required to acquire song data as actual broadcast data, which is broadcast in actual broadcasts by a transmitting device, the actual broadcast data is transmitted, and the data broadcast data wherein the EMD links for the song data in the actual broadcasts are disposed, is transmitted periodically during the transmission of the actual broadcast data. The actual broadcast data and the data broadcast data are received by a user terminal, and the EMD links disposed in the data broadcast data are stored whenever there is an input of an operation to attach a “bookmark”. Thus, audio data such as songs in programs broadcast can easily be acquired by radio.

Example methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to provide media content are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes receiving an audio signal output by a first media presentation device, the audio signal being associated with first media content, decoding the audio signal to extract a code from the audio signal, the code identifying at least one of the first media content or a broadcaster of the first media content, setting a clock using a timestamp associated with the code, obtaining second media content based on the code and the timestamp, the second media content comprising a plurality of pieces of secondary content for respective ones of a plurality of timestamps, and presenting, at a second media presentation device, a first of the plurality of pieces of secondary media when its respective timestamp substantially corresponds to a time value obtained from the clock.

The present invention provides transmitting additional information without superimposing the additional information on an airwave, in a universally applicable way. A communication terminal transmits user information via a communication network. The communication terminal receives additional information in response to the user information. Then, the communication terminal initiates receiving of an airwave. In other words, the communication terminal receives the additional information via a communication path other than the airwave. The additional information includes data showing an additional image superimposed on images carried by the airwave (main images). The communication terminal displays combined images, which are generated by combining the main images and the additional image, based on the airwave and the additional information. If a user identifies a position on a first display area, the communication terminal displays images corresponding to the identified position, as a process corresponding to the identified position.

A method for mapping signaling information to announcement information and a broadcast receiver are disclosed herein. A method of providing a Non-Real-Time (NRT) service, the method comprises extracting identification information of first signaling information and second signaling information based upon a program specific information/program and system information protocol (PSI/PSIP) table, receiving the first signaling information and second signaling information based upon the extracted identification information, constructing and displaying a service guide using the received first signaling information, acquiring first content identification information as a content selected from the displayed service guide, accessing a File Delivery over Unidirectional Transport (FLUTE) session using the received second signaling information, acquiring second content identification information matched with the acquired first content identification information from the accessed FLUTE session and receiving and storing one or more file constructing corresponding content based upon the acquired second content identification information.

The service providing method includes selecting content including an identifier with respect to an SNS or a data exchange space that is opened in linkage with content from a service guide, and outputting the selected content and the SNS or the data exchange space linked to the content in respective areas of a screen. The SNS linked to the content includes a data exchange space configured to allow one or more SNS users to simultaneously access the data exchange space using an open API from the server, and also includes a SNS identifier having a format as access information for the corresponding data exchange space.

A method and apparatus for processing enhanced media data in a Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) system is provided. The apparatus for processing enhanced media data includes: a base layer processing unit configured to multiplex an elementary stream of a base layer and perform channel encoding for the multiplexed elementary stream of the base layer; an enhancement layer processing unit configured to synchronize an elementary stream of an enhancement layer with the elementary stream of the base layer and thereby multiplex the elementary stream of the enhancement layer and process the elementary stream of the enhancement layer to be transmittable via at least one of a plurality of transmission channels; and a synchronizer configured to provide the enhancement layer processing unit with synchronization information that is used for synchronizing the elementary stream of the enhancement layer with the elementary stream of the base layer.

A method and system for providing program guide data to a user network device associated with a user identifier includes a partner service provider in communication with the user network device and a primary service provider in communication with the partner service provider authenticating the user network device provider using the user identifier. The user network device generates a request for program guide data and communicates the user identifier and the request to the partner service provider. The partner service provider or the primary service provider communicates program guide data to the user network device based on the identifier data. The user network device displays the program guide data on a display device.
