Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method of modifying policy settings in a network having a plurality of subscriber devices. An embodiment includes a plurality of base stations, each capable of wirelessly transmitting across a geographic region and a server. A cell-phone, capable of roaming between regions, is operable to establish a wireless link with the base stations and through the base stations, with the server. The network contains a communication policy determining from which other communication devices a subscriber device can receive voice calls. The communication policy is updated, by the server, based on requests from the subscriber devices. Once a request is received from a subscriber device, the determination whether to update the communication policy can be based on a record of rejections respective to the caller requested to be blocked. Alternatively, the communication policy can be updated according to a trust policy maintained on the server respective to the subscriber device making the request; the trust policy represents the procedure to follow when a request is received from that subscriber device.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for joining a meet-me conference call includes but is not limited to presenting an option to specify a quorum associated with a meet-me conference call, in response to user input to an application program co-resident with a terminal. In one embodiment, the user input includes but is not limited to an indication that the user is requesting to join a meet-me conference call. In one embodiment, the presenting an option to specify a quorum is done in response to the user input includes but is not limited to an indication that the user is requesting to specify a quorum either at the time at which a meet-me call is being scheduled, or at a time prior to a time at which a meet-me conference call is to transpire. In one embodiment, a method for adding a participant to a meet-me conference call includes but is not limited to querying a multipoint controller as to participants in or users waiting to join a meet-me conference call, in response to receiving a first message, from a Client Conference Manager Application co-resident with a terminal (Terminal-CCMA), that a user desires or is available to join a meet-me conference call; and sending a message containing the results of the querying to at least one Terminal-CCMA. In other embodiments, hardware and/or software effect the forgoing described method embodiments.
Abstract:
Audible media among different channels is recorded and analyzed to identify repeated instances of the same media item, either within a channel or from channel to channel, over a span of time. Such media items are identified as possible advertisements. A verification process is performed to determine which of these advertisement candidates are in fact advertisements. Once advertisements are so identified, audio from various sources is monitored to identify subsequent occurrences of that advertisement by matching the monitored audio against the stored signatures. In such a manner, advertisement flighting (broadcasts) as well as user exposure to advertisements can be detected and tracked.
Abstract:
The invention is a method for automatically determining the dialing sequence that is required for local, local long distance, ten digit local and long distance, long distance, and international dialing from an initial dialing database that contains no information about local telephone company dialing requirements and requires no or minimal human interaction. The method contains a database for logging call attempts, failures, and successes and an analysis algorithm to determine which dialing sequences are potentially failures and which are potentially successes and which are certain successes. Data from previous dialing attempts and analysis are used to determine dialing sequences for future calls to each area code and exchange. Each area code and exchange pair is quickly optimized without the need for purchasing or maintaining a third party dialing database and without manual definition of dialing sequences.
Abstract:
Computer-implemented methods and systems for management of real-time and historical data for multiple call centers in which real-time and historical data are received electronically from a plurality of call center sites and displayed simultaneously for each of the plurality of call center sites on a single display screen in a separate call center site column for each call center and integrated and displayed for all of the plurality of call center sites in a separate division column on the single display screen.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for identifying a called party suitable for use in an automated attendant system are provided. Information derived from a spoken utterance by a caller is received. Identification information associated to the caller is derived. The information derived from the spoken utterance is processed on the basis of a plurality of directory entries to identify at least one directory entry that is a potential match to the information derived from the spoken utterance. When multiple directory entries in the plurality of directory entries are potential matches to the information, a calling pattern associated to the identification information is identified and a most likely directory entry from the multiple directory entries is selected at least in part on the basis of the calling pattern. A signal conveying the selected directory entry is then released.
Abstract:
A method automatically answers a phone call by counting ring duration. When an incoming call is detected, an elapsed time counter is disabled if it is previously activated. The phone call is automatically detected if a timer counts out a predetermined ring duration and a counter counts out a predetermined calling number. After answering the phone call, the counter is reset to an initial state.
Abstract:
In an event monitor associated with an information processing system, data values corresponding to monitored events are processed using a set of parameters characterizing a reference distribution of the data values. From a given one of the data values a corresponding probability value is computed utilizing the set of parameters. A thresholding operation is then performed on the probability value, and alarm information is generated based on the result of the thresholding operation. The set of parameters are periodically updated to take into account one or more of the data values.
Abstract:
A call progress analysis system is provided which is generic to any telecommunications system with which it is used due to configurable detection parameters. A signal on a channel of the telecommunications system is detected in intervals of changing frequency composition and compared to stored pattern descriptors, each of which defines a different call progress signal. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a frequency mask is computed that is specific to a user-defined call progress analysis class. This frequency mask is used to make the DSP receiver ignore frequencies that are not part of any call progress pattern in a particular class. The frequency mask can be used in a frequency detection mode or an energy detection mode. In either mode, the detector can be customized for each channel.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer program product for dynamically adapting selections in an automatic phone support system is described. The invention may integrate a dynamic knowledge base of responses with the menu selections on an automated phone system or other response system to present the most frequently used items earlier in the option list, or otherwise order options and information. Call data may be captured from single callers or historical ensembles of callers. An automatically generated similarity relationship may be used to initialize the system without historical call data, based on textual similarity or other techniques. Prioritization of options provides a more enjoyable, efficient experience for callers without increasing administrative overhead.
