An image output control apparatus includes a recognition unit for recognizing mounting of a recording medium, a reading unit for reading image-reproduction instruction data recorded in the recording medium based on the recognition of the mounting, and a generation unit for performing image generation for output by selectively reading necessary image data from the information recording medium in accordance with the image-reproduction instruction data.
Abstract:
An image processing device such as an electronic camera prevents external devices from writing to a first storage region of a memory, while allowing the external device to write to a second storage region of the memory. Accordingly, even when the external device operates irregularly, information stored in the first storage region cannot be erased or corrupted. According to a second aspect of the invention, two connectors provided on the electronic camera so that the camera can be attached to different external devices are arranged on the outer housing of the camera so that when the first connector is connected to an external device, the second connector is covered. Conversely, when the second connector is connected to an external device, the first connector is covered. This prevents both connectors from being simultaneously connected to two different external devices. Therefore, the possibility of causing an excessive voltage within the camera is lessened.

PORTABLE INFORMATION CAPTURE DEVICES A portable information record capture device having: an information record capturer; a device memory adapted to have a library of stored information records; a controller adapted to evaluate the space available in the device memory and if the available space is insufficient, to accommodate a new information record to compress one of: either the new information record; or one or more of the pre-existing stored information records in the device memory to a size where there is freed-up enough device memory to accommodate the new information record, or its compressed form if the controller requires it to be compressed, the controller being adapted to record a new information record, or its compressed form if it is to be compressed, to the freed-up device memory. Each information record has an associated priority rating, and the controller is adapted to select which information records to compress and how far to compress them on the basis of the priority ratings of said information records. It is envisaged that such a device is especially suitable for digital video cameras and the like.

A digital image and speech recording and reproducing apparatus is arranged to quickly and simply retrieve, classify, and erase a great deal of data for improving the operativity in small-sized equipment. The apparatus includes a recording and reproducing unit for a moving image signal, a recording and reproducing unit for a still image signal, a recording and reproducing unit for a digital speech signal operated in synchronous to the image, a display for displaying the image for said moving image signal or said still image signal, a recording condition recording unit for recording recording conditions containing data information about recorded data for distinguishing said moving image from said still image and recording time information for recording an image or a speech. The recording conditions consisting of at least the data information and the recording time information about the recorded data are graphically and literarily displayed on the display, so that the recorded data item may be selected on the display screen.

An electronic still camera is provided, which can maintain a photographing order (recording order) of frames by only partially updating information even when an arbitrary frame recorded in a memory is erased, and new data is re-recorded in the corresponding area. The camera may include a designation unit for designating arbitrary image data in a memory in which a plurality of image data and administration data for administering the image data are recorded, and an erase unit for erasing administration data corresponding to designated image data designated by the designation unit. Furthermore, the camera includes an updating unit for updating administration data corresponding to image data obtained by an image pickup operation immediately before the designated image data is obtained, or administration data corresponding to image data obtained immediately after the designated image data is obtained, in correspondence with an erase operation of the erase unit.

An information processing apparatus includes a memory and an arithmetic device. The arithmetic device acts as a registerer, a storage device, and a deleter. The registerer registers a user. The storage device stores function information related to a function to be utilized by the registered user, in the memory in association with the user. The deleter deletes, when one of a plurality of events, defined as triggers for reducing a number of the users registered by the registerer, has occurred, the registration of one or more users and the associated function information, according to a rule corresponding to the event that has occurred. The deleter keeps from deleting, when the event that has occurred, out of the plurality of events, makes the user whose registration has been deleted highly likely to be reregistered, the function information associated with the user whose registration is deleted.

A system and method for simplified scanning of tangible documents commences with scanning them into electronic documents on an MFP. The MFP controller generates a scan command indicia and commences a scan when it is selected by a user. A processor in the controller generates an electronic document file from the scan operation associatively with a scan folder file and generates scan folder file indicia on a display and electronic document indicia corresponding to each electronic document file in the scan folder. A user selects a document and specifies instructions for processing the document which is completed by the processor.

The image file management method includes setting a first score of each image file according to a file size of each image file, setting a second score of each image file according to a storage time of each image file, and performing selective deletion of each image file according to the first score and the second score of each image file.

When a controller receives a new command from a main controller during overwrite-deletion processing for a specific storage apparatus, the received command is stored at least until completion of the overwrite-deletion processing when the received command is a command to the specific storage apparatus. Alternatively, progression of overwrite-deletion process is stored and priority processing of the received command is executed. On the other hand, when the received command is not a command to the specific storage apparatus, processing for the command is executed.
