Abstract: A dual band LTE small cell base station communicates on both licensed bands and unlicensed bands. The small cell base station modifies the communication protocol utilized by the licensed band to enable communication over an unlicensed band. This modification involves replacing the physical (PHY) layer of the licensed band communication protocol with the PHY layer of a to-be-used protocol in an unlicensed band.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and embodiments related to a technique for changing topology of a wireless network in a multi-band wireless networking system. In a wireless network with multiple wireless networking devices and one or more client devices, communications between the wireless networking devices occurs via a backhaul channel, and communication between the client(s) and the wireless networking devices occurs via a fronthaul channel. At boot up, a wireless networking device configures the wireless network with a certain topology. After the topology is initially configured, the wireless networking device determines a network-related parameter and changes the topology of the wireless network based on the network-related parameter

Abstract: A light transmission device includes body that extends between a generally planer lower rim that is configured to collect light from a light source, and an upper rim that is configured to emit the light. The upper rim may be elliptical and emit the light in a generally uninterrupted elliptical light emission pattern, even if the light is transmitted to the lower rim in a linear or other non-elliptical pattern. The light transmission device may be located within a wireless networking device with wireless antennas located between the lower and upper rims of the body.

Abstract: Introduced here are technologies for securely booting a network access device or a satellite device. A network-accessible server system may receive a boot request that includes a boot certificate to identify the network access device. The network-accessible server system may determine that the boot certificate corresponds with a verified boot certificate listed on a boot certificate registry. The network-accessible server system may determine that a geographical location of the network access device and a mobile application executing on an electronic device are within a predetermined range. The network-accessible server system may distribute a digital certificate to the network access device based on determining that the boot certificate corresponds with any verified boot certificate listed on the boot certificate registry and determining that the geographical location of the network access device and the mobile application executing on the electronic device are within the predetermined range.

Abstract: Wireless communication under IEEE 802.11 standards utilizing carrier specific interference mitigation where an AP or UE employs an ultra-wideband tuner to evaluate available spectrum between several communication bands. Rather than being constrained to communicate in a single communication band, the AP and UEs may utilize more than one communication band to communicate with one another. In doing so, the AP and UE search across several bands and measure interference on a carrier-by-carrier basis across those bands. Either of the AP and UE may select a cluster of carriers for communication, where the cluster of carriers may comprise 1) contiguous carriers in a single sub-channel, 2) contiguous carriers spanning across more than one sub-channel, 3) discontinuous carriers in a single sub-channel, or 4) discontinuous carriers spanning across more than one sub-channel. The mapping between a cluster and its carriers can be fixed or reconfigurable.

Abstract: A portable electronic device wirelessly communicates using an embedded antenna which includes a ground plane for electronics of the device and one or more additional planes extending at any angle diverging from the ground plane. The angles between the ground plane and the one or more additional planes can be configured so that the overall antenna is physically contained within a housing of the device. A slot or notch can be configured between the planes so that the antenna can effectively operate as a slot antenna. The antenna can be sized in the device to enable near field communications, such as Bluetooth, or greater distance communications, such as Wi-Fi and/or cellular. The device could be a camera configured to communicate in a security system.

Abstract: A directionally adjustable mounting device is disclosed for use with a small electronic device such as a wireless camera. Also disclosed is a method of using the mounting device. The mounting device has a housing for receiving the camera extending from and rotatable about bearing. A socket of the housing is biased into frictional contact with the bearing by a spring to inhibit movement of the camera relative to the bearing. The mount is configured to receive an opposing force on the housing to overcome the spring force and allow the camera to be repositioned.

Abstract: Systems and methods are introduced for rate control of data transmissions in a wireless camera system. In an illustrative embodiment, a computing system selects primary data rates and corresponding fallback data rates to use for transmission of video data. The computing system selects the data rates that provides high-throughput without resulting in wasted energy from retransmissions. The selection may be based upon transmission conditions as well as the record of past data rates, the number of attempts for the data rates, and whether they were successful. These data may be stored as a state machine or for machine learning analysis. Finally, the video data may be aggregated prior to transmission to reduce overhead and improve efficiency.

In particular, access points (APs) implement a series of algorithms that compare signals and make decisions on when to switch a client from one AP to another AP in a distributed multi-band wireless networking system. The invention exploits to advantage the fact that the APs can communicate with each other via the dedicated backhaul.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for controlling, in a network device, multiple radio circuits operating in a same or similar frequency band and in close physical proximity. In some embodiments, the radio circuits operate on the same network protocol. The network device can include a coexistence controller coupled to the network circuits. According to some embodiments, the network circuits are each assigned a priority, and the coexistence controller can control operations among the network circuits by selectively adjusting one or more transmission operating parameters of a respective network circuit based on a plurality of operating criteria, which include each network circuit's priority. Among other benefits, the embodiments disclosed herein can increase wireless network bandwidth and reduce mobile device power consumption by providing coordination among the radio circuits so that the transmitting and receiving operations are performed in a way that they do not interfere with their respective antennas.
