Abstract:
A system and method is shown for coating an article, including a chamber that can be at least partially open to surrounding air to allow free flow of air through the chamber and recovery of vapor produced during a coating operation within the chamber. The chamber can include a support surface that is adapted to support the article during a coating process, and a coating device within the chamber can be adapted to selectively apply a coating of a fluorocarbon in a fluorinated solvent to at least a potion of an article supported on the support surface.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an apparatus for grinding or polishing at least one edge of a glass substrate. The apparatus includes an air bearing support member configured to pivot about an axis of rotation with zero frictional resistance opposing said pivotal movement. A grinding unit is coupled to the air bearing support member. The grinding unit is configured to apply a predetermined force normal to the at least one edge to remove a predetermined amount of material from the at least one edge. The predetermined force is directly proportional to the predetermined amount of material and less than a normal force resulting in glass substrate breakage.
Abstract:
A post foaming oral care mousse is provided by the invention. The mousse includes at least a dentifrice composition and a compressed liquid propellant having a boiling point less than −10° C. The liquid propellant is blended into the mousse as an emulsion, and the emulsion is adapted to be dispensed from a container as a gel that foams after a time delay. The mousse has a viscosity of less than 30,000 centipoise when measured prior to the addition of the propellant. Preferably, the mousse expands at least 100 vol % in less than 5 seconds upon exposure to atmospheric pressure.
Abstract:
A medical waste disposal device having a blade that rotates and chops medical waste into chips and other small particles. The blade includes at least one opening with at least one sharpened edge. The blade also has at least one raised portion adjacent to the sharpened edges. The blade cooperates with a cutting plate to chop or scissor the medical waste. The raised portion pushes chopped medical waste away from the blade and the cutting plate.
Abstract:
Apparatus for setting dead time between ON times of two series connected switches of a power converter circuit connected across a supply potential, the apparatus comprising a circuit for monitoring a power converter circuit parameter and providing an output corresponding to the circuit parameter; a memory addressed by a signal related to the output of the monitoring circuit, the memory having values stored therein related to the dead times and associated with values of the circuit parameter; a processor providing an output of the memory associated with the value of the circuit parameter to set the dead time corresponding to the stored value in the memory, and a dead time implementing stage for implementing the dead time in accordance with the output of the memory.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a synthetic thatch element for building construction including an elongate polymer strip with one or more texture elements on at least one surface to provide a natural appearance. Thatch elements according to the invention can be incorporated into thatch element constructions for use in building construction. The present invention also provides methods for producing textured thatch elements.
Abstract:
A method of preparing paper, or paperboard, using a hollow sphere polymer whose void has been created by swelling the polymer with a fixed or permanent base, incorporating the hollow sphere polymer into the paper, and drying the paper, is provided. Also provided is a paper produced by the method.
Abstract:
The invention disclosed herein enables a collection of computers and associated communications infrastructure to offer a new communications process which allows a requestor to receive configuration information of a computational device from a responder. The requestor first sends query documents that contain queries for configuration information of a computational device to the responder; the responder automatically collects the answers for the queries and sends a response document that contains the configuration information of the computational device to the requestor. The queries are written in a formal descriptive language which is transparent, safe for network evaluation, and extensible, and the configuration reader of the responder can parse the queries and automatically invoke a set of standard inspectors to obtain the corresponding configuration information.
Abstract:
A system and method for extracting a plurality of structured data from one or more information sources. The method comprises receiving the information sources, receiving at least one pattern descriptor selected from a graphical user interface, and receiving one or more templates with each templates having at least one pattern descriptor. The method then proceeds to apply the one or more templates to the information sources. The method generates the plurality of structured data in a common format by parsing the information sources with the templates. The method stores the structured data in the common format.
Abstract:
A console for an enterprise suite is disclosed. The enterprise suite addresses the increasingly complex problem of keeping critical systems updated, compatible, and free of security holes. It uses Fixlet® technology to identify vulnerable computers on the network and then allows authorized personnel to correct problems across any subset of the network with a few simple mouse-clicks. The enterprise suite helps keep the networked computers updated and properly patched, all from a central console which, along with supporting architectural enhancements, is the subject matter of this document. The invention allows rolling out a security patch in minutes instead of months, thus allowing an administrator to stay ahead of potential hacker attacks. The invention also makes it possible to track the progress of each computer as updates are applied, thus making it simple to gauge the level of compliance across the entire enterprise.
