摘要: An apparatus for lighting a discharge lamp is provided with an inverter circuit 3 for causing an input power supply 2 to generate the voltage required for a discharge lamp 1, a rectifying smoothing circuit 4 for rectifying and smoothing the output of the invertor circuit 3, a feedback control circuit 8 for computing the power required for the discharge lamp 1 so as to control the feedback control circuit 8 in the feedback mode, a polarity switching circuit 9 for switching the polarity of the rectified and smoothed output to apply the output to the discharge lamp 1 with a low-frequency square wave, and an ignitor 11 for superposing a high-voltage pulse on the discharge lamp 1 when the discharge lamp 1 is started. The apparatus therefor further includes an overcurrent control circuit 14 for detecting an overcurrent flowing into the discharge lamp 1 so as to make the polarity switching circuit 9 perform a high-frequency chopper operation together with a low-frequency operation for only an interval during which the overcurrent flows, so that the life of the discharge lamp is prolonged by suppressing the overcurrent flowing into the discharge lamp and preventing its electrodes from wearing.

摘要: There are disclosed a process for producing methyl formate by dehydrogenating methanol in liquid phase in the presence of a solid catalyst and a process according thereto wherein a gas (N.sub.2, H.sub.2, CO, etc.) is continuously blown into the liquid phase from outside, and the gas along with the reaction product are continuously withdrawn outside the reaction system from the gaseous phase directly or through a cooler. By virtue of the liquid-phase reaction in the above process, as compared with the conventional gaseous phase reaction, the reaction temperature can be lowered, the reaction gas rich in the objective methyl formate rather than methanol is obtained by continuously withdrawing the resultant methyl formate outside the reaction system and accordingly, a single pass yield higher than that at the thermodynamical equilibrium-value is assured, whereby energy saving is made possible.

摘要: When a communication network system is constructed using an optical fiber as a transmission path, a node which transmits a signal may receive its own transmission signal upon reflection of an optical signal on the transmission path. When access control to a network is performed by a CSMA/CD method, the reflection signal may be erroneously detected as a signal sent from another node, and a collision which has not actually occurred may be detected. In order to avoid this, a reflection signal component of the transmission signal must be removed from a reception signal. For this purpose, a time-inverted signal of the transmission signal, and the reception signal are modulated, and the modulated signals are then input to a convolver, thereby obtaining a convolution integral value between the two signals. Since the transmission signal component included in the reception signal can be detected from the obtained value, the detected transmission signal component is removed from the reception signal component, and a signal transmitted from another node can be extracted. In this manner, erroneous detection of a collision upon reflection of a signal transmitted from its own node can be prevented.

摘要: A portable video camera and recording apparatus is comprised of a video camera section and a recording section. The video camera section is comprised of a CCD, analogue-to-digital converters for converting signals from the CCD into digital form. The digital signals are then processed, converted into analogue form, processed in analog form, and then output as the composite video signal. A digital luminance signal and either a digital composite color signal or a plurality of digital color difference signals are received as inputs into the recording section. If the digital composite color signal is received, then the signals are time-base-compressed, converted into analogue form, the composite color signal is frequency converted and filtered and the luminance signal is frequency modulated and filtered. Next, the signals are added together and recorded onto a recording medium. If the digital color difference signals are received, the digital color difference signals are multiplexed together, converted into analogue form, frequency modulated, filtered and then recorded onto one track on the recording medium. The digital luminance signal is time-base-compressed, converted into analogue form, frequency modulated, filtered, and then recorded onto a second track on the recording medium.

摘要: An apparatus for controlling a tunable filter of the present invention includes a tunable filter, a generating device for generating a reference light whose wavelength is within a transmission wavelength band of the tunable filter, a detecting device for detecting an interaction signal, such as a beat signal, caused by interaction between a desired component of an input light to be input into the tunable filter and the reference light and a controlling device for controlling the tunable filter based on the interaction signal. The controlling device controls a current flow through a wavelength control terminal of the tunable filter such that a center filtering wavelength of the transmission wavelength band of the tunable filter substantially coincides with a wavelength of the desired component.

摘要: An optical communication terminal detects an unused first wavelength in a wavelength range in response to a transmission request and transmits a call signal to a transmission destination using the first wavelength. An acknowledgement signal from the destination is detected in a portion of the wavelength range not including the first wavelength. When a call signal addressed to the terminal from another terminal is detected thereat and the terminal is ready for communication, an unused second wavelength in the wavelength range is detected and an acknowledgement signal is sent using the second wavelength in response to the call signal.
