The foam sheet of the present invention is biodegradable, can be recycled, has good processability, is lightweight, exhibits excellent appearance, has practically satisfactory heat resistance and is more acceptable to the environment. There is provided a crosslinked biodegradable resin continuous foam sheet comprising biodegradable resin, and has an expansion rate of about 1.5 to about 50 and a gel fraction of about 3% or more. There is further provided a method for producing the foam sheet comprising the steps of: (1) preparing a sheet from a resin composition comprising a biodegradable resin, a thermal decomposable blowing agent, and a crosslinking promoter; (2) irradiating the resulting sheet with an ionizing radiation to crosslink the resin composition; and (3) subjecting the crosslinked sheet to heat treatment to continuously prepare a crosslinked foam sheet. Thus, the foam sheet of the present invention can be used in a wide range of practical applications such as, for example, interior materials for an automobile, thermal insulators such as a pipe covering, cushioning materials such as a tape core and the like.

The silane-crosslinking expandable polyolefin resin composition includes 100 parts by weight of a mixture of 5-90% by weight of a silane-grafted polyethylene resin obtained by melt mixing 100 parts by weight of LLDPE having a molecular weight distribution of 5 or less and a density of 0.87-0.945 g/cm3, 0.1-5 parts by weight of a vinyl-functional silane compound and 0.01-0.5 parts by weight of a free radical generator, and 95-10% by weight of a polyolefin resin; and 2-20 parts by weight of a specified organic blowing gas.

According to this invention, thermal expansion microcapsules can be substantially evenly mixed with a base resin and an expected expansion coefficient for the thermal expansion microcapsules can be obtained during resin molding in a mold. Specifically, this invention provides a method for manufacturing a synthetic resin molding using thermal expansion microcapsules in which the thermal expansion microcapsules are mixed with a base resin and the mixture undergoes resin molding in a mold, wherein the thermal expansion microcapsules are granulated with a given binder resin under a temperature condition in which the thermal expansion microcapsules are not thermally expanded; then the mixture is mixed with the base resin; and the mixture undergoes resin molding.
