    摘要: An apparatus is provided for removably mounting an electronic device to a surface where such mounting can be accomplished using only one hand. The apparatus includes a mounting bracket that is securable to the electronic device. The bracket has a mounting pedestal coupled to it which has a lower ratchet surface. The apparatus further has a base which has a lower face that can be coupled to the surface, and an upper face which has a receiving slot for the pedestal. The slot has a shoulder extending thereabove to engage the pedestal, and an open end that allows the pedestal to be moved within the slot. The base further includes a releasable locking arm which has a retaining ridge located in line with the open end of the slot to selectively hold the pedestal within the slot. The locking arm has an upper pawl surface located to engage the ratchet surface when the pedestal is located within the slot. The ratchet and pawl surface provide a mechanism to hold the mounting bracket and the electronic device in a desired rotational position. The pedestal can thus be placed within the slot and held within the slot by the retaining ridge of the locking arm, and the mounting bracket can be rotated with respect to the base by rotating the pedestal within the slot. The pawl surface and ratchet surface cooperate to hold the electronic device in the desired position.

    摘要: An electronic navigation device and method, for displaying a visual representation of navigational information in a selected perspective view, includes a processor, a display, a key pad input, a memory, and an antenna. Navigational information, such as way-points in an active route, hazards and landmarks, and the position, direction, and speed of movement of the navigational device, are entered into the processor. The processor determines a trapezoidally-shaped visible region based upon user inputs, clips the navigational information to the visible region, and transforms the navigational information within the visible region to a selected perspective viewing plane. Polygons, representative of highway lanes, are displayed on the display, in the desired perspective view, for each route leg of a route within the visible region. Intersecting route legs, oriented at different angles relative to each other, have rounded ends so as to precisely overlap and illustrate a curve in the "highway lanes" at a turn event way-point. The device and method provide for an at least substantially true perspective view of navigational information, which is updated in real time.

    摘要: A portable, handheld electronic navigation device includes an altimeter, a compass, and a GPS unit. An internal memory stores cartographic data, for displaying the cartographic data on a display of the navigation device. Accordingly, the device is capable of displaying cartographic data surrounding a location of the unit as determined by GPS, heading information as determined by the compass, and altitude information as determined by the altimeter. Additionally, through operation of an input, a user can cause the display to move, and thus display additional cartographic information, in the direction of the compass heading even when the user of the device is standing still. Furthermore, through utilization of a clock, such as the GPS clock, a user can determine altitude changes over time. Also, the altimeter of the navigation may be calibrated with altitude information entered by a user, with altitude information obtained from the cartographic or with altitude information derived from GPS.

    摘要: An AM radio transmitter utilizes a push-pull MOSFET based design that rejects even-ordered harmonics, and therefore produces minimal electromagnetic radiation. The transmitter contains a low level modulating circuit and a feedback modulation arrangement which linearizes the modulation of the transmitter, and also senses reverse power in the transmitter antenna line, so that the power and modulation can be reduced if the transmitter has a less than optimal load condition existing on an antenna port. A unique modulation amplifier utilizes a Darlington RF pair having an input stage including the collector of the first transistor of the pair, and a pin diode connected to the base of the first transistor of the pair. A radio signal is modulated by varying a voltage on the collector of the input stage, and simultaneously maintaining a constant voltage at an output stage of the Darlington RF transistor pair. Additionally, a bias of the pin diode is simultaneously varied by the audio signal, thereby changing attenuation characteristics of the radio signal.

An input 28 and a display screen 32 are mounted on the housing 12. The display screen 32 is mounted vertically below the input 28 such that the device may be more stable and more easily grasped. The device includes two cylindrical cavities 48 to receive batteries 42. The cavities 48 are located at the rear vertical edges of the housing such that the rear of the housing 12 is relatively rounded and thus easier to grasp. The battery cavities open to the exterior of the housing. A battery cover 54 is mounted to the housing and seals the cavities 48. A contact for each cavity 48 is located on the cover, and a bus bar extends between the contacts to complete the circuit between the batteries 42.

    摘要: A sonar depth sounder device, and a method for processing echo signals reflected from objects within a body of water, utilize a processor, a memory, a display, and a keypad connected to the processor. A transmitter excites a transducer which emits sonar pulses into a body of water, and a receiver receives reflected sonar echo signals. Particularly, signals that have reflected from an object suspended in the water have an intensity, a history time duration, and a depth spreading characteristic. The processor compares one or more of the intensity, history time duration, and depth spreading characteristic of the reflected signals with corresponding sets of parameters stored in memory, which sets of parameters are representative of one or more selected objects, cross-talk noise, and unidentifiable noise. Upon interpretation of the reflected signals, the processor displays an icon, on the display, representative of the identified object, or rejects the signals as cross-talk noise and therefore does not display data indicative of the reflected signals, or upon the determination that the reflected signals are indicative of unidentifiable noise, processes data to prevent it from being displayed on the display.
