Abstract: A system for monitoring bearing wear in a circular clarifier drive is provided. The system includes a drive motor comprising at least one gear operatively coupled to at least a bridge platform, skimmer, and header of the circular clarifier drive. The at least one gear is rotatable within a housing of the circular clarifier drive on a plurality of bearings positioned therebetween. The system further includes at least one sensor constructed and arranged to measure a gap between at least one stop block of the housing and the at least one gear and determine if the measured gap is within a predetermined range. Methods of retrofitting a circular clarifier drive including a drive motor operatively coupled to at least one gear disposed within a housing and a plurality of bearings positioned between the at least one gear and the housing are also provided.

Abstract: A method of increasing operational efficiency of a power plant includes determining an average rate of accumulation of scale-forming compounds in a cooling water source, directing water from the cooling water source having a first concentration of scale forming compounds through a treatment system to produce a treated water having a lower concentration of scale-forming components than the first concentration by operating the treatment system with operating parameters selected such that a rate of removal of the scale-forming components from the water in the treatment system is greater than the average rate of accumulation of the scale-forming components, directing the treated water back into the cooling water source, and circulating water including the treated water from the cooling water source through a cooling system of the power plant.

Abstract: A heat power management system is disclosed for an alternating current (AC) power controller for use with portable reverse osmosis water purification systems requiring precise control of a heating action for an internal water heater coupled with energy savings and the reduction of AC line disturbances. The heat power management system is designed to operate with various international electrical systems while protecting such system from excessive current draws.
