Abstract:
This disclosure presents various embodiments of a transforaminal intersomatic cage for an intervertebral fusion graft, and an instrument and method for implanting the cage, an embodiment of the cage having a body in the shape of a circular arc and comprising a lateral concave surface, a lateral convex surface, a straight upper surface, a straight lower surface and an end wall having at least one hole, called the end hole, designed to receive a rod of an instrument for implanting the cage between the vertebrae, wherein: the end hole has an orientation that is more or less tangential to the circular arc described by the body; the extremity opposite to the end wall of the body includes a return part extending the body toward the center of the circle on which the circular arc described by the body lies.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a float switch with a float housing having a magnetically-activated, hermetically-sealed reed switch secured within an interior cavity in a first orientation and a permanent magnet positioned in a second orientation. The permanent magnet is movable within a chamber in the interior cavity between a first activation position and a second non-activation position. For connection to a pump, electrical conductors extend from the float housing at one end and are electrically coupled to the reed switch.

Abstract:
An enzyme detection device (1) for detecting the presence, in a sample, of an enzyme capable of modifying a provided substrate (10). The device (1) comprises a substrate which has a modification region (14) that is sensitive to modification by the enzyme from an unmodified state to a modified state. The device (1) further comprises a substrate recognition molecule (16) which binds the modification region (14) in either the modified or the unmodified state. The modification region 14 of the substrate is preferentially bound by the substrate recognition molecule (16) as compared with the enzyme when mixed. The device further comprises a detectable label (18) coupled to the substrate recognition molecule (17).
Abstract:
A docking station for use in combined imaging of a tissue wound and a test substrate comprising a sample from a tissue wound, the docking station comprises means for connecting the station to a processor which processes and stores the images. The docking station also incorporates means for receiving a test substrate comprising a sample from a tissue wound. The docking station also includes means for docking a sensor in the station, which sensor detects the light reflected from an illuminated tissue wound, such that an image of the tissue wound can be communicated from the station to the processor. The means for docking is arranged such that when the sensor is docked in the station and the test substrate is received by the docking station, the sensor is positioned to detect the intensity of reflected light from the test substrate and communicates the detected intensity of reflected light to the processor to thus permit combined imaging of the tissue wound and test substrate. An apparatus for use in combined imaging of a tissue wound and a test substrate comprising a sample from a tissue wound, comprises such a docking station together with a sensor which detects the light reflected from a tissue wound and test substrate when illuminated and a test substrate for receiving a sample from a tissue wound. A method of imaging a wound comprises directing light over a wavelength range of less than 50 nm onto the wound (9). The light reflected from the wound (9) is detected with a sensor (5) that is sensitive to the intensity of the reflected light. The intensity of the reflected light is measured.
Abstract:
Enhanced safety is provided in the event of an information handling system catastrophic battery failure by extending a flame container outward from the battery to vent flammable gases through holes having a quenching distance that retards transfer of flames from the battery. For example, telescoping cylinder sections disposed proximate the casing of a battery cell are forced outward as a telescoping assembly when pressure within the casing exceeds a predetermined safety threshold. The flame container vents flammable gases away from other cells of the battery and may direct the vented gases to the exterior of an information handling system housing or to the interior of the housing.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for providing a presentation to a user. The system comprises a framework arranged to provide a time based primary media element and at least one secondary media element to the user, wherein the at least one secondary media element is arranged to be presented to the user when a predetermined time is reached during presentation of the primary media element.

Abstract:
A site controller adapted to be used in an automated monitoring system for monitoring and controlling a plurality of remote devices via a host computer connected to a first communication network is provided. The site controller is configured for controlling communication with the host computer and a plurality of communication devices that define a second communication network associated with the plurality of remote devices. Briefly described, in one embodiment, the site controller comprises a transceiver configured to communicate with the plurality of communication devices via the second communication network; a network interface device configured to communicate with the host computer via the first communication network; and logic configured to: manage communication with each of the plurality of communication devices, via a first communication protocol, based on one or more communication paths for each of the plurality of communication devices, each communication path comprising one or more communication devices involved in the communication link between the transceiver and each of the plurality of communication devices; and manage communication with the host computer via a second communication protocol.
