Abstract:
A frost free faucet having a spigot assembly including a drain conduit, a sleeve assembly including an elongated pipe, and a valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a ½ turn valve, a check valve and optionally a pressure relief mechanism. The ½ turn valve includes a rotatable valve element configured with a water passageway and a stationary valve element with one or through holes. The rotatable valve element is circular-shaped and configured with a water passageway in a semicircular portion. The stationary element is a disc shaped configured with one or more through-holes in a semi-circular portion of the stationary valve element. Upon turning the rotatable valve element 180 degrees in a first direction, the water passageway and the one or more through-holes are aligned to an open position and upon turning the rotatable element 180 degrees in a second direction, the water passageway and the one or more through-holes are misaligned to a closed position. Each valve element of the ½ turn valve may be formed from a ceramic material, The check valve is located upstream of the ½ turn valve to prevent the backflow of water from the spigot to the supply line. An optional pressure relief mechanism allows water trapped downstream of the valve assembly to be discharged from the valve assembly.

New compounds for use in treating disorders of gastrointestinal motility are also provided.
Abstract:
A bipolar junction transistor (BJT) requires the fabrication of a BJT structure and of a support post which is adjacent to, but physically and electrically isolated from, the BJT structure. The BJT structure includes a semi-insulating substrate, a subcollector, a collector, a base, and an emitter. Metal contacts are formed on the subcollector and emitter to provide collector and emitter terminals. Contact to the structure's base is accomplished with a metal contact which extends from the top of the support post to the edge of the base nearest the support post. The contact bridges the physical and electrical separation between the support post and the base and provides a base terminal for the device. The base contact need extend over the edge of the base by no more than the transfer length associated with the fabrication process. This results in the smaller base contact area over the collector than would otherwise be necessary, and a consequent reduction in base-collector capacitance. The invention is particularly useful when forming heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs), built on a compound semiconductor substrate such as indium phosphide (InP).
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly of a fuel cell by solvent pretreatment to the electrolyte membrane of the membrane electrode assembly is disclosed. A prepared electrolyte membrane is soaked in alcohol solvent for pre-expanding the electrolyte membrane at first, a catalyst layer is uniformly coated onto at least one side of the pre-expanded electrolyte membrane, and then the electrolyte membrane is dried for evenly shrinking the electrolyte membrane and the catalyst layer. Finally, the electrolyte membrane with catalyst layers is interposed between two gas diffusion electrodes, and the resulting sheet is pressed with heating to form the membrane electrode assembly.
Abstract:
A method for forming a solid state humidity sensor is disclosed which comprises the steps of: (a) dissolving a tungstate salt into an aqueous solution; (b) adjusting the pH of the aqueous tungstate salt solution to below 8.5; (c) forming one or a pair of electrodes on an insulating substrate; (d) placing the substrate into the pH-adjusted aqueous tungstate salt solution and heating the aqueous solution containing the substrate at temperatures above 70.degree. C. to thereby form a pyrochlore-type crystalline tungsten trioxide film over the electrode or pair of electrodes; and (e) forming another electrode over the pyrochlore-type crystalline tungsten trioxide film if only one electrode is formed during step (c). Alternatively, the pyrochlore-type crystalline tungsten trioxide film can be formed over or between the electrodes by heating the pH-adjusted aqueous tungstate salt solution to cause a precipitation of pyrochlore-type crystalline tungsten trioxide, then screen-printing the pyrochlore-type crystalline tungsten trioxide powder on one or both of the electrodes to thereby form a humidity sensing element. The pyrochlore-type crystalline tungsten trioxide is represented by the general formula of(M.sub.2 O).sub.x WO.sub.3.zH.sub.2 O, in which M is a cation, x is about 0.5, and z, which is the amount of crystalline water contained in said crystal, is typically less than 2.
