A multi-directional remote control system and method is adapted for use with an interactive media system of a type including a display such as a monitor or TV with a camera. The remote control system and method images the controller to detect relative motion between the controller and screen with the camera. This position information is used for control of a cursor or other GUI interface. A movable IR filter improves detection of the IR during tracking and allows the camera to have a second function, such as a web cam or other function, with the filter not in place.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are fibers comprising an active material that assists in removing contaminants from fluid. The active material, which forms a coating on the fiber, typically comprises a non-fibrous: nanostructured, metal-containing compound, such as a metal-oxygen compound. A filter media made of such fibers, as well as methods of making the fiber and the filter media are also disclosed. Methods of purifying fluids, such as air, water, and fuels, are further disclosed.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a molded article by means of an in-mold decoration process, is described. The method includes, providing a laminate (4) of a plurality of separate releasable thermoplastic labels (14) superposed over a carrier film (26). A decoration (86) is applied in-line to the exposed second surface (68) of the labels (14), thereby forming a decorated laminate (5). The decorated laminate (5) is forwarded and indexed into a mold (20) such that the exposed first surface (77) of the carrier film (26) abuts at least a portion of the interior surface of the mold, and the decorated second surface (68) of the label (14) faces the interior space of the mold. Plastic material (e.g., thermoplastic material) is injected into the mold against the decorated surface of the label, thus forming a molded article. The carrier film (26) is then separated from the molded article. At least a portion of the surface of the molded article prepared in accordance with the present method is defined by the first surface (71) of at least one label. Molded articles that may be prepared according to the present method include identification cards, such as driver's licenses and animal tags (e.g., cattle tags), and lenses, such as tinted ophthalmic lenses and sunshade lenses.

The power supply selection control circuit includes: a first comparator; a second comparator; a first reference generator coupled to a first power supply node, and having a first reference output node coupled to a first input of the first comparator and to a first input of the second comparator; and a second reference generator coupled to a second power supply node, and having a second reference output node coupled to a second input of the first comparator and to a second input of the second comparator. The first comparator provides a logic low when the first power supply voltage is lower than the second power supply voltage. The second comparator provides a logic low when the second power supply voltage is lower than the first power supply voltage.

The material disclosed herein comprises carbon nanotubes having a length (L) that meets the following formula (1): L≧½λ (1) where λ is the wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation incident on the material. Also disclosed herein are methods of altering electromagnetic radiation, including mitigating, intensifying, or absorbing and re-transmitting electromagnetic radiation using the disclosed material.

A plurality of application services are provided to subscriber devices in a cloud computing network. A plurality of requests for application services are received from a subscriber device via a customized private network connection assigned to the subscriber device, and the requests for application services are aggregated with requests for application services from other subscriber devices. The requests are transmitted to application servers within the cloud computing network hosting applications for performing the application services. The subscriber device is provided with the requested plurality of application services via the customized private network connection.

A method of preparing a molded cross vehicle beam which includes a hollow blow molded thermoplastic rigid member that is integrally attached to a rigid support, e.g., a U-shaped metal plate, and at least one attachment element, is described. The rigid support (12) has a first surface, a second surface and a plurality of perforations having edges. The attachment element(s) (81, 84) have a first surface, a second surface and a plurality of perforations having edges. The attachment element provides a means of attaching the molded cross vehicle beam to a separate structure (e.g., the A-pillars of an automobile). A thermoplastic parison precursor of the hollow rigid thermoplastic member (15) is blow molded against the first surfaces of the rigid support (12) and the attachment element (81, 84). Portions of the thermoplastic parison extend through perforations in each of the rigid support (12) and the attachment element (81, 84), thereby attaching the hollow thermoplastic rigid member (15) to the rigid support (12) and the attachment element (81, 84). The present invention also relates to a process by which the molded cross vehicle beam is prepared.

The present invention relates to a method of preparing a coated molded article (59) by means of in-mold coating. The method involves the use of a mold apparatus (1) that includes a rotatable core (29) having at least one molding surface (32, 35), a first die (11) and a second die (17) each having an internal surface (14, 20) and each of which are reversibly engageable with the rotatable core. The second die (17) has a reversibly slidable portion (23) having an internal surface (26) that defines substantially the internal surface (20) of the second die (17). The internal surface (14) of the first die (11) and a molding surface (32) of the rotatable core together define a first mold cavity (38) in which a molded plastic article (44) is formed. The mold apparatus is opened, the core (29) is rotated to align the molded plastic article (44) with the internal surface (20) of the second die (17). The second die (17) is engaged with the rotatable core (29), and an intermediate second mold cavity (53) is formed, into which a coating composition (56) is introduced. The reversibly slidable portion (23) of the second die (17) is moved towards the rotatable core (29), thus reducing the volume of the intermediate second mold cavity (53) and causing the coating composition (56) introduced therein to spread over the first surface (50) of the molded plastic article (44). The mold apparatus (1) is opened and a coated molded article (59) is removed from the rotatable core (29). The present invention also relates to a mold apparatus (1).
