Abstract:
A method of treating or preventing supraventricular tachyarrhythmias is disclosed which comprises the use of a compound which selectively blocks the ultra-rapidly-activating delayed rectifier K+ current (IKur) of the human atrium.
Abstract:
This application discloses a method of treating or preventing atrial arrhythmias which utilizes compounds which are blockers of the ultra-rapidly-activating delayed rectifier K.sup.+ current (I.sub.Kur) of the human atrium in a use-dependent and/or rate dependent manner, and which provide the selective block preferentially at fast heart rates so that the effect is realized or maximized when required.
Abstract:
A method of preventing, treating, terminating and protecting against cardiac arrhythmias, such as atrial, supraventricular and ventricular ectopy, tachycardia, flutter or fibrillation, including atrial, supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias resulting from myocardial ischemic injury in a patient in need thereof, comprising administration of a selective I.sub.Ks antagonist and a beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agent, administered in combined therapy either simultaneously, separately or sequentially is presented. Additionally, a pharmaceutical preparation comprising a selective I.sub.Ks antagonist and a beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agent, wherein these compounds are administered simultaneously, separately or sequentially is presented.
Abstract:
A web feeding, cutting and dispensing machine includes a pneumatic cylinder for moving a hot wire to cut measured-length sheets from web stock. A pneumatic clamp cylinder moves a clamp bar for momentarily clamping the web during cutting. Upon pressing a start button, a pneumatic control valve sequentially operates the respective cutting and clamping cylinders for quickly retracting the hot wire, while more slowly retracting the clamp. Conversely, after the next measured web length has advanced, this control valve again sequentially operates these two cylinders in reverse order for quickly clamping while slower cutting. This dual control by one valve is advantageously achieved (1) by throttling air flow in retracting the clamp cylinder relative to retracting the cut cylinder, and conversely (2) by throttling air flow in advancing the cut cylinder relative to advancing the clamp cylinder. A compact machine has a hollow movable clamp bar torque member for equally driving both clamp arms by one clamp cylinder at one side of the machine. This movable clamp bar also serves as a passageway containing a torque shaft for equally driving both cutting arms by one cut cylinder at the other side. A "floating" upper feed roll accommodates different thicknesses of foam web without requiring adjustment and enables a lower feed roll to rotate continuously regardless of whether the web is clamped or not. Each cut sheet is conveniently held by a holder ready for use and is gently removable from the holder.
Abstract:
The various embodiments disclosed herein relate to medical electrical leads. More specifically, certain embodiments relate to leads having one or more drug-eluting components that are overmolded or otherwise positioned on the lead. Other embodiments relate to leads having one or more patterned surfaces, including some leads with one or more patterned surfaces over which one or more drug-eluting components are positioned. Further implementations relate to leads having one or more overmolded patterned surfaces, including some embodiments in which the overmolded surfaces contain at least one drug-eluting component.
Abstract:
A processor-applicator system configured for the processing of at least one, and in some instance a plurality of compounds into a formulation for the subsequent expulsion therefrom. Such a system may comprise an applicator system and an intermediate section, the latter of which may house at least one cartridge having at least one compound disposed therein. Such cartridge may be disposed in mechanical relation to a vibratory component and a projectile chamber, each of which may effectuate a transfer of kinetic energy onto the at least one cartridge, thereby effectuating various changes to the compound therein, and resulting in the withdrawal of at least a portion of such compound into a reservoir of the applicator system for the subsequent expulsion therefrom. Such a system may be configured for use in a variety of fields, such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, beverages, and foodstuffs, and thus may operate with a plurality of compounds.
Abstract:
The adapter connects an aerosol or similarly shaped can to a power tool for the purpose of mixing the contents within the can. The adapter preferably connects a reciprocating power tool, such as a reciprocating saw, to a spray paint can that is necessarily shaken before use. To secure the can to the power tool, the adapter has multiple fingers that grasp the end of an aerosol can with respective tabs. The tabs catch on a ring on the topside of the spray paint can to prevent it from breaking away from the reciprocating tool during operation. To secure the adapter to the can, the fingers and tabs have a diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the can rim but deform into an oblong arrangement to receive the can before returning to the circular arrangement and locking the can in place. To deform the adapter, an actuator is connected to the side of the cylindrical body and the can is held in place until the actuator is actuated and the tabbed fingers can be pulled away from the can.
Abstract:
An integrated welding and thermal processing method includes heating adjoining surfaces, at least one of which is a creep strength enhanced ferritic (CSEF) steel alloy, to a sufficiently high temperature above their melting points to form a weld. The weld is allowed cool below the martensitic start temperature of one or both CSEF alloys. Thereafter, a supplemental heat source tempers the CSEF alloys by reheating the weld area at a rate of 10° C. per second or greater to above the CSEF alloys’ martensitic start temperatures, but not above the austenitization temperature of the CSEF alloys. After the weld’s heat affected zone is maintained at a temperature between the CSEF alloys’ martensitic finish temperature and martensitic start temperature, the weld is allowed to cool at a rate of 15° C. per minute or greater.
Abstract:
The disclosed invention is a new concept for a network of specialized continuous ambient air sampling systems, which employ a novel non-destructive ionization and separation method, coupled to a near real-time genomic sequencer. The network of preferably pathogen samplers, would constitute a plurality of distributed nodes throughout the world, with bacterial & viral concentration, identification, and mutation data uploaded to the cloud for epidemic/pandemic predictive modeling. The proposed system offers the ability to migrate from outbreak surveillance, to outbreak forecast. In addition, the capability for continuous data of genomic sequencing offers an enhanced capability to help track antigenic drift and antigenic shift. While optimized for viral capture and analysis, any airborne pathogen or spore can be accepted using the technology. Applications include world health monitoring, pandemic prediction, and detection of real-time bioterror pathogen deployment.
