According to the present invention, apparatus and methods are provided for monitoring the environment of an outdoor base station to protect the outdoor base station from variations of the environment. An apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an environment monitor for monitoring the environment of the outdoor base station, for transmitting a command for power shutdown upon detecting a fatal state of environment, and for transmitting a command for resuming power upon detecting a lapse of the fatal state. A power supply control unit shuts down power supplied to the outdoor base station in response to the command for power shutdown from the environment monitor, and resumes power to the outdoor base station in response to the command for resuming power from the environment monitor.

The lifting surgical instrument includes a sheath, including: a probe part formed in the tubular shape in which a through hole penetrating in a longitudinal direction is formed, and configured such that the front end thereof may be inserted into the skin; and a body M configured to extend from the rear end of the probe part, to have a diameter larger than that of the through hole, to communicate with the through hole, and to include a sheath hole. In this case, a direction guidance portion is provided on the inner surface of the probe part, and the angle at which the needle travels is changed via the direction guidance portion when the needle passes through the through hole.

The present invention relates to a compound with a diphenylmethane moiety having an inhibitory activity against sodium-dependent glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) being present in the intestine and kidney, and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same as an active ingredient, which is useful for preventing or treating metabolic disorders, particularly diabetes. The present invention also provides a method for preparing the compound, and a method for preventing or treating metabolic disorders, particularly diabetes, by using the compound.

An apparatus and method for synchronizing a broadcast message in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. In a method of operating a Base Station (BS) for synchronizing the broadcast message in the broadband wireless communication system, the method includes setting a transmission start frame number of each of broadcast messages so that the transmission start frame number is identical to those of neighbor BSs according to a frame number generated based on Global Positioning System (GPS) information, if at least one or more of the broadcast messages are superposed in an nth frame, transmitting broadcast messages having a high priority among the at least one or more of the broadcast messages in the nth frame, and transmitting broadcast messages, having a low priority and not transmitted in the nth frame, in an (n+1)th frame with a time delay, and setting a next transmission start time of the broadcast messages having the high priority and the broadcast messages having the low priority to an (n+m)th frame, wherein n is an integer indicating a frame number for transmitting the broadcast messages, and m is an integer indicating a transmission period of a corresponding broadcast message.

An apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving an HS-SCCH in an HSDPA communication system including an HS-DSCH shared among a plurality of UEs and spread with a plurality of channelization codes, and the HS-SCCH for transmitting control information related with the HS-DSCH to enable the UEs to receive the shared channel. In the HS-SCCH transmitting apparatus, the control information is prioritized according to its processing urgency degree. High-priority control information and low-priority control information are generated and encoded in different encoding methods. Then the high-priority control information and the low-priority control information are multiplexed to a control channel signal such that the high-priority control information precedes the low-priority control information.

An apparatus and method for locating a terminal in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus for locating the terminal includes a candidate region determiner, a virtual location determiner, and a final location determiner. The candidate region determiner determines a candidate region of the terminal by using tag signal arrival time information of the terminal provided from a plurality of readers. The virtual location determiner determines a virtual location of the terminal in the candidate region in consideration of a propagation delay of the tag signal. The final location determiner predicts a tag signal arrival time from the virtual location and determines the virtual location as the final location if a difference between the predicted tag signal arrival time and a measured tag signal arrival time is less than or equal to a threshold value. The apparatus and method provide a less expensive and less complex locating system.

A method and system of retransmitting uplink packet data from a user equipment (UE) in a handover region to Node Bs. The UE transmits packet data to the Node Bs on an enhanced uplink dedicated transport channel (EUDCH). The Node Bs transmit to the UE first response fields indicating whether the Node Bs have received good packet data or bad packet data, and second response fields that the Node Bs received from an RNC indicating whether a radio network controller (RNC) has received good packet data or bad packet data. The UE then detects the first and second response fields and retransmits the uplink packet data according to the values of the response fields in the UE.
