Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for saving power in a dual mode portable terminal that concurrently supports a cellular network and an unlicensed band network. The method includes, upon disassociating from an in-association Access Point (AP) of an unlicensed band network, measuring a Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) from the AP during a predetermined time and calculating an average value of the RSSI; and comparing the calculated average value with a predetermined threshold value and deciding whether to perform a mode conversion between a low power mode and a general mode.

Abstract: A method, system and mobile device for searching for and acquiring a desired application by using Near Field Communication (NFC) regardless of time and location are provided. In the method, the mobile device reads a keyword from an NFC tag of a target structure in response to a tagging event between the mobile device and the NFC tag. Then the mobile device performs an application search using the keyword, and downloads a specific application found using the keyword.

Abstract: A method and a system for providing a Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) service, in which when multiple counterpart devices are selected based on manufacturer information and support information on supported functions and capability defined in a service information field of each beacon message or each probe response message, a final device is determined by checking multiple pieces of signal information of the selected counterpart devices, are provided. The method includes receiving messages from multiple counterpart devices, selecting one or more counterpart devices, each of which supports a requested service, from an identical manufacturer when the messages are received, checking multiple pieces of signal information of the selected counterpart devices when the number of the selected counterpart devices is greater than one, and determining a device having the signal information satisfying set conditions as a final device.

Abstract: A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a switching element connected to a gate line and a data line crossing each other, and a pixel electrode electrically connected to the switching element. The pixel electrode includes a first domain-dividing portion extending in a direction. The second substrate is spaced apart from the first substrate to have a cell gap of about 3.1 μm to about 3.3 μm. The second substrate includes a common electrode including a second domain dividing portion formed in a region between the first domain-dividing portions adjacent to each other. The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and second substrates. The liquid crystal layer includes a liquid crystal composition having a refractive anisotropy (Δn) of about 0.1010 to about 0.1030.
