    摘要: A closure for permanently closing a syringe collection and disposal container provides additional protection against injury or accidental contamination from used needles which have been collected and are awaiting disposal. A wheel-shaped cover is used to open and close an access opening in the top of the container. After the container is full, the wheel is rotated to a closed and locked position. The closure comprises a boss formed on the inboard side of the wheel which drops into an aperture formed in the container in the closed and locked position, thereby restraining further movement of the wheel and preventing the container from being reopened.

    摘要: A disinfectant delivery system and method of providing alcohol-free disinfection to a body to be disinfected, as well as a method of infection reduction by preparation of a patient before an invasive procedure. A blended cloth comprising first fibers and second fibers is provided with the first fibers generally being greater in quantity by weight than the second fibers. A disinfectant solution impregnates the blended cloth, with the disinfectant solution having chlorhexidine gluconate as an active ingredient and having no alcohol. In the method according to the invention, at least one impregnated blended cloth is used to disinfect at least a portion of a body. A plurality of blended cloths can be provided for disinfecting discrete portions of the body. When an invasive procedure is to be performed on a patient, a further method according to the invention of infection reduction comprises using a CHG-impregnated cloth to disinfect at least a portion of the patient at least one day prior to the invasive procedure proximate the location of the invasive procedure.

    摘要: A disinfectant delivery system and method of providing alcohol-free disinfection to a body to be disinfected, as well as a method of infection reduction by preparation of a patient before an invasive procedure.     摘要: A disposal container for automatic release of cannulas from a holder and for disposal of the cannulas, and a system for hands-free release of a cannula from a holder. Included is a disposal container having a release aperture formed in the top, the aperture including opposite tapered sides extending into the container. A cannula is mounted in a cannula holder, the holder having at least one depressible lock element extending from the holder. The holder is inserted in the release aperture with the lock element engaging the tapered side, and the holder is then depressed to automatically eject the cannula from the holder. If the cannula is installed in a removable adaptor inserted in the holder, both the adaptor and the cannula are ejected when the holder is depressed in the aperture.

    摘要: A liquid specimen collector for biological fluids. A receptacle is provided for holding fluids, with a cover applied thereon. A sample port is formed in the cover, and a cap is threadedly applied to the port. A removable specimen extractor is installed in the sample port, having a needle for piercing a pierceable end of a specimen vial, and an extraction tube which extends into the receptacle to facilitate withdrawal of any fluid in the receptacle. While the specimen extractor is removable, it is held temporarily in place until its removal is desired.

    摘要: An anti-resheathing device for preventing a needle sheath from re-engaging the hub of a needle after the sheath has been disengaged from the hub when the needle hub has been inserted in a needle retention socket. The sheath has a pre-determined exterior dimension in that portion of the sheath adjacent the needle retention socket. A wall extends outwardly from the socket toward the sheath, and has an interior dimension less than the exterior dimension of the sheath and is constructed of a displaceable material having a memory such that the wall is displaced to accommodate the sheath when the hub is inserted within the socket. When the sheath is then removed from the hub, the wall returns to a substantially undisplaced orientation and, due to the exterior dimension of the wall, prevents the sheath from being re-engaged on the hub.
