Abstract: A method 300 of generating invariants for distributed attack detection on a cyber-physical system 100 having a number of system components is provided. In a described embodiment, the method 300 includes deriving design invariants at 310 based on system design of the cyber physical system 100 including physical specifications of the system components, obtaining operational data of the cyber physical system at 320 including operational attributes of the system components, generating operational invariants from the obtained operational data at 330, and correlating the operational variants with the design invariants at 340 to generate an integrated set of invariants for detecting distributed cyber attacks of the cyber physical system 100.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of acoustic waves for the manipulation and sorting of particles and cells. In an embodiment, there is provided a microfluidic device for manipulating a particle in a fluid suspension, the device comprising: (a) a substrate; (b) a channel defined in the substrate, the channel having an inlet for receiving the fluid suspension and an outlet for discharging the fluid suspension; and (c) an acoustic source configured to deliver a travelling surface acoustic wave transverse the flow of the fluid suspension in the channel, wherein the acoustic source is an interdigital transducer (IDT), the IDT comprises a plurality of concentric circular arcs having a tapered end directed at the channel, and the tapered end has an aperture of between 4 μm and 150 μm. In an alternative embodiment, the device comprises a second channel disposed intermediate the first channel and the acoustic source wherein the first and second channels are connected by a pumping channel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining an identity of an unknown Internet-of-Things (IoT) device in a communication network is disclosed. The method includes the steps of receiving network traffic generated by the unknown IoT device, extracting device network behavior from the generated network traffic, and determining the identity of the unknown IoT device from a list of known IoT devices by applying a selected machine learning based classifier from a set of machine learning based classifiers to analyze the device network behavior. Each machine learning based classifier of the set is trained by a dataset including a plurality of features representing network behavior of a respective known IoT device from the list and the known IoT device's identity. The plurality of features is associated with the corresponding device network behavior of the generated network traffic.

Abstract: The present invention relates to nanofibers. In particular, the present invention relates to potassium niobate nanofibers. In an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of preparing the nanofibers, the method comprising: (a) dissolving niobium chloride and potassium sorbate in a solvent to obtain a first solution; (b) removing chloride precipitates formed from the first solution; (c) adding a polymer, for example polymethylmethacrylate or polyvinylpyrrolidone to the solution to obtain a second spinnable solution; and (d) electrospinning the spinnable solution to produce the fibers. The application also discloses the application of such nanofibers in the manufacture of a humidity sensor device by sputtering a metal such as Tantalum on top of the nanofibers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for tracking a device comprising a magnet as the device is inserted through a subject. The apparatus is wearable by the subject and comprises a unit configured to conform to the subject. The apparatus further comprises magnetic sensors arranged with the unit. In use, the magnetic sensors detect magnetic fields of the magnet and the detected magnetic fields are processed to determine a position of the magnet. This allows tracking of the device as the device is inserted through the subject.
