Abstract: Provided are a valve guide made of an iron-based sintered alloy excellent in wear resistance and thermal conductivity, and a method of producing the same. Specifically, provided are a method of producing a valve guide made of an iron-based sintered alloy, the method including the steps of: molding raw material powder including diffusion-alloyed powder including core iron powder and Cu bonded to the core iron powder through diffusion to obtain a molded body; and sintering the molded body, to thereby produce a valve guide made of an iron-based sintered alloy, and a valve guide produced by the production method.

Abstract: Provided is a cast iron material from which excellent friction characteristics can be obtained. Provided is the cast iron material containing C and Fe as a composition, and further containing Cr as the composition in 1.0 to 3.5% in terms of mass %. The cast iron material is used in a sliding component sliding under an environment of lubricating oil to which an additive containing Mo as a constituent element, such as MoDTC, is added. Cr contained in the cast iron material promotes a decomposition reaction of the additive containing Mo added to the lubricating oil to form a film of molybdenum disulfide, the film having low friction. Thus, the fiction can be reduced.

Abstract: The valve seat includes an iron-based sintered alloy subjected to oxidation treatment, which is obtained by subjecting an iron-based sintered alloy including: 4 mass % to 15 mass % of Co particles; and hard particles each containing at least one compound of an intermetallic compound, a carbide, a silicide, a nitride, or a boride that has one or more kinds of elements selected from group 4a to 6a elements in a periodic table, and having a hardness of from 600 HV to 1,600 HV to oxidation treatment, and which has an oxide mainly including triiron tetraoxide (Fe3O4) and cobalt oxide (CoO) formed on a surface and in an interior of the iron-based sintered alloy. The iron-based sintered alloy subjected to oxidation treatment has an area ratio of the oxide of from 5% to 25% in a cross section thereof in a state prior to installation on the cylinder head.
