Embodiments of the present invention disclose a handover method, User Equipment (UE), and a network side device, which can shorten a handover delay of a control plane and an interrupt delay of user plane data. A handover method includes: obtaining, by a UE, a Time Advance (TA) of a target cell before a handover; and obtaining an Uplink Grant (UL Grant) sent by the target cell; and then sending a Handover Complete message to the target cell with the TA on a resource that is corresponding to the UL Grant.

The method includes receiving information sent by a source eNodeB of UE, where the information includes processing status information and data information which are obtained after the source eNodeB processes data transmitted by the UE, or data information in at least two user plane protocol stacks of the source eNodeB, or data information in user plane protocol stacks except PDCP in the source eNodeB; and correspondingly, transmitting data with the UE according to the processing status information and data information, or the data information in the at least two user plane protocol stacks, or the data information in user plane protocol stacks except PDCP.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a user equipment for cell selection of a heterogeneous network. The UE selects, a cell with a highest signal measurement value in a carrier frequency synchronizes to the cell, and receives broadcast information of the cell. If the cell is a macro cell, the broadcast information carries an extended indicator bit and the extended indicator bit is used to identify whether a low-power cell exists in the coverage of the macro cell. If the extended indicator bit identifies that the low-power cell exists in the coverage of the macro cell, the low-power cell in the macro cell is searched for, and if a low-power cell in the macro cell satisfies an S rule, the UE selects the lower-power cell as a serving cell and camps.
