    Abstract: A pressure vessel with an interior adapted to contain a pressurized substance is provided. The pressure vessel includes a membrane including an interior surface exposed to the interior of the pressure vessel, the membrane adapted to hermetically seal the pressure vessel in an intact state and to release the pressurized substance in a ruptured state. The pressure vessel further includes an actuating rod coupled to and extending from an exterior surface of the membrane on an opposite side of the membrane relative to the interior surface, the actuating rod adapted to transition the membrane from the intact state to the ruptured state in response to receiving a transverse force.

    Abstract: A package arrangement is provided. The package arrangement includes a package including a compartment defined by a wall. The wall includes a flexible portion. The compartment stores a beneficial agent. The compartment at least partially collapses in response to applied pressure. The compartment is hermetically sealed in a storage configuration. The package includes a rigid insert including a conduit in fluid communication with the compartment. The rigid insert is positioned inside the compartment and includes an insert coupling portion. The package arrangement further includes a rigid frame containing part of the compartment within the rigid frame. The rigid frame includes a frame coupling portion. The insert coupling portion exerts pressure on the frame coupling portion through the flexible portion to restrict motion of the rigid insert relative to the rigid frame. The flexible portion hermetically seals a proximal portion of the conduit in the storage configuration.

    Abstract: The disclosure provides a packaging system to store a beneficial agent including a primary package with a molded component. The molded component may have a compartment with a flexible wall enclosing a storage volume and a rigid section configured to connect to a secondary package such that the compartment is contained therewithin. The flexible wall may collapse to deplete a beneficial agent from the storage volume through a dispensing port. The flexible wall may be a web material including a monolayer web or multilayer web, and may incorporate a film, a foil, an adhesive, a polymer layer, a metallic layer, and/or a metal oxide layer. The molded component may be a co-molded component formed of a first material and a second material, the first material being molded into a form and joined to a second material. The molded component may be a unitary molded component which consists of one material.

    Abstract: Parenteral delivery of a beneficial agent using an auto-injector configured for reduction of forces acting on a primary container for the beneficial agent during activation of the auto-injector. The primary container may be disposed within a pressure chamber of the auto-injector such that an increased pressure within the pressure chamber during activation is applied to a stopper of the primary container and an external surface of a sidewall of the primary container. In turn, a pressure differential between a containment volume of the primary container and the pressure chamber may be reduced or eliminated. In turn, forces acing on the primary container in response to the pressure increase in the pressure container may be reduced or eliminated. Configurations are also provided for improved relative movement between a stopper and a sidewall of the primary container for more reliable injection.

    Abstract: Several pressure cartridges and activation mechanism arrangements are disclosed which are configured to use less manual force to rupture the cartridge than current pressure cartridges and activation mechanisms. According to some embodiments, the activation mechanism requires lower manual activation force by using the pressure in the cartridge to do part of the rupturing work. The cartridge can be filled with compressed gas such as nitrogen and argon, or supercritical fluids such as carbon dioxide, and can be used to propel or operate several types of devices and mechanisms including medical drug auto-injectors, paintball guns, tire emergency inflation kits, and inflatable life vests.
