Abstract: Simultaneous control plane and user plane user data transfer, for CIoT devices, and switching between control plane and user plane data transfer, for the CIoT devices, may be performed for Control Plane CIoT EPS Optimization and user plane data transmission. In one implementation, a flag value is set within a Non-Access-Stratum (NAS) EPS Mobility Management (EMM) message to indicate to the network to establish a user plane connection (e.g., an S1-U bearer and data radio bearer (DRB)). The NAS message may be transmitted when the user device is in connected mode of operation.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE receive training signals from a plurality of transmit-receive points (TRPs) associated with the gNB. Each training signal may comprise a reference signal resource identifier (ID) to indicate a corresponding TRP and a corresponding transmit direction of a plurality of transmit directions. The UE may, for each transmit direction of the plurality of transmit directions, determine an average signal quality measurement based on individual signal quality measurements in multiple receive directions. The UE may select, for reporting to the gNB, a subset of the average signal quality measurements to ensure that the average signal quality measurements excluded from the subset are less than or equal to a minimum value of the average signal quality measurements in the subset.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and storage media are provided for user equipment (UE) that supports enhanced coverage and may operate with a voice centric usage setting or a data centric usage setting. When the UE's usage setting is set to voice centric, the UE may not operate in coverage enhancement (CE) mode B. When the UE's usage setting is set to data centric, then the UE may operate in CE mode B. The UE may indicate the UE's usage setting in an Attach or Tracking Area Update (TAU) request message, and a mobility management entity (MME) may indicate to an evolved NodeB that CE mode B is restricted or not restricted based on the usage setting. Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus of a User Equipment (UE) device includes memory storing non-public network (NPN) configuration information, a radio frequency (RF) interface, and processing circuitry coupled to the memory and the RF interface. The RF interface receives information broadcast by a radio access network (RAN) node of the particular NPN, where the information includes a NPN indicator indicating that the RAN node supports a NPN and NPN service information indicating services supported by the particular NPN. The processing circuitry establishes, in response to detecting the NPN indicator in the information received from the RAN node, a connection to the particular NPN based on the NPN configuration information and the NPN service information received from the RAN node.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and configurations to implement trusted connections within wireless networks and associated devices and systems are generally disclosed herein. In some examples, a wireless local area network (WLAN) may be attached to a 3GPP evolved packet core (EPC) as a trusted access network, without use of an evolved packet data gateway (ePDG) and overhead from related tunneling and encryption. Information to create the trusted attachment between a mobile device and a WLAN may be exchanged using Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) extensions defined by IEEE standard 802.11u-2011, or using other protocols or standards such as DHCP or EAP. A trusted WLAN container with defined data structure fields may be transferred in the ANQP elements to exchange information used in the establishment and operation of the trusted attachment.
