Abstract:
A system and method for operation of a user equipment (UE) to determine a cellular network bottleneck in a downlink channel, and an apparatus for use in a UE for determining the same. A UE may determine a burst of network traffic from network traffic received from the cellular network during a series of transmission time intervals. The UE may analyze resource allocations to the UE during the burst to determine an extent to which the cellular network is busy. The UE may determine that the cellular network is experiencing a bottleneck based at least in part on the analysis of the resource allocations to the UE in the burst.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to encode channel state information (CSI), e.g., enhanced type II CSI. A common frequency basis may be selected. Spatial-frequency coefficients, frequency basis related information, and/or spatial basis related information may be determined. At least a portion of the coefficients and/or information may be encoded in a CSI report.
Abstract:
This application discloses various techniques for call establishment using voice-over LTE (VoLTE) in networks supporting time division (TD) and frequency division duplexed (FDD) LTE communication systems. Such techniques can include systems and methods for mobile-originated calls for a UE in a TD-LTE cell, systems and methods for mobile-terminated calls for a connected UE in a TD-LTE cell and systems and methods for mobile-terminated calls for an idle UE in a TD-LTE cell. These methods and systems can leverage component carriers from a carrier aggregating capable UE to facilitate more efficient and/or effective UE call establishment.
Abstract:
A device and method for transmitting user equipment capability information to a network. In a first mechanism, the device and method determines the carrier aggregation (CA) combinations supported by the user equipment that are relevant to the user equipment. in a priority order to the network. The relevant CA combinations may be determined based on most recent camped bands and the neighbor bands of the most recent camped bands. In a second mechanism, the device and method orders the relevant CA combinations into a prioritized list according to which CA combination have priority based on selected priority factors. Subsequently, the user equipment broadcasts the prioritized list of CA combinations to the network.
Abstract:
Methods that are performed by a user equipment (UE) and corresponding methods of base stations that allow a UE to determine whether the UE is in a carrier aggregation enabled or disabled state. One exemplary embodiment of a method performed by a UE determines a first artificial value for a first parameter and a second artificial value for a power headroom (PHR) for a secondary component carrier (SCC), the first and second artificial values being substantially low relative to a configuration of the network, generates an artificial report including the first and second artificial values, transmits the artificial report to a primary cell providing a primary component carrier (PCC) and receives an indication that the UE is placed in a carrier aggregation disabled state.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to techniques for enabling a cellular network to more efficiently announce special network capabilities to UE's in its coverage area. The special network capabilities may be specific to a first class of UE devices and/or may be outside of the relevant telecommunication standard used by the cellular network. The base station may transmit a dummy System Information Block-1 (SIB-1), wherein the dummy system information block is broadcast separately from regular system information block 1's (SIB-1's).
Abstract:
Estimating loading and potential available throughput a serving cell of a wireless user equipment (UE) device. Physical layer metrics of a channel on which the UE communicates with the serving cell may be measured. Cell utilization of the serving cell may be calculated based at least in part on the measured physical layer metrics. A maximum available throughput of the serving cell may be calculated based on the cell utilization.

Abstract:
In order to reduce the time delay when transitioning between different communication protocols used to communicate information via a cellular-telephone network, an electronic device (such as a cellular telephone) may only partially disable a software stack associated with a current communication protocol. In particular, after receiving an indicator that there is a message to be communicated using a second communication protocol while the electronic device is currently configured to communicate using a first communication protocol, the electronic device may disable a portion of a software stack associated with the first communication protocol and may enable a software stack associated with the second communication protocol. Then, the electronic device communicates the message using the second communication protocol. Next, the electronic device: may disable the software stack associated with the second communication protocol and may enable the portion of the software stack associated with the first communication protocol.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for suspending session state during hybrid network operation. In one exemplary embodiment, a cellular device uses a single-radio solution to support circuit-switched calls on a CDMA 1X network and packet-switched calls on LTE. Periodically, the cellular device tunes away from LTE and monitors CDMA 1X activity, and vice versa. During these tuned-away periods, the client device may suspend operation on the tuned away network for extended tune away intervals.
