摘要: A pushpen electrode is provided for electrophysiology measurements. The pushpen operation is used to impale a cell membrane in cell-attached configuration to go whole-cell without disruption of the gigaseal. The pushpen electrode has advantages over the conventional patch clamp electrode in reducing tip series resistance, increasing signal bandwidth, permitting longer-term recordings and reducing diffusion between the cytosol and the electrode solution.

摘要: A method of raster scanning a sample on a continuously moving stage for charged-particle beam imaging said sample is disclosed. The method includes line scanning a charged-particle beam across a surface of the sample repeatedly to form on the surface at least one 2-dimensional line array composed of scan lines lying adjacent to each other. When each line scan is to be performed, the charged-particle beam is shifted, along the stage-moving direction, by an extra predefined distance at least equal to a distance the stage has traveled during a time period from the beginning of the first line scan of the first formed line array to the beginning of the current line scan (to be performed) of the current line array (to be formed).

摘要: A method for designing a light guide plate includes the following steps. A raw light guide plate having a light input surface and a light output surface is provided. A region of the light input surface is divided into several annuluses according to a luminance distribution E(ρ,θ) of the light output surface. A scattering dots density D(ρ,θ) of each annulus on the light input surface is figured out. A total number N of the scattering dots of each annulus on the light input surface are gained, and the scattering dots is randomly distributed in the each annulus defined on the light input surface, whereby a designed light guide plate is obtained.

摘要: Neospora caninum is the causal agent of bovine neosporosis which results in high levels of abortion. The present study determined the protective efficacy of two Neospora antigens—Neospora cyclophilin (NcCyP) and NcSRS2. The ability of native NcCyP to upregulate mouse IFNγ was also confirmed in this study. Recombinant NcCyP or NcSRS2 were tested either alone or in combination and formulated with adjuvant ImmuMax-SR and CpG. Female BALB/c mice (n=15) of 10-12 weeks of age were immunized s.c. twice in a 2-week interval with vaccines containing either NcCyP alone, NcSRS2 alone, NcCyP plus NcSRS2, or non-recombinant bacterial antigen (NR) in 2 separate trials. All mice were challenge-infected 3 weeks following the booster immunization and necropsied 3 weeks after the challenge infection. Brain and serum were collected and Nc-specific DNA sequence in brain tissue and antibodies in serum were analyzed by PCR or ELISA/Western blotting. Results showed that mice vaccinated with rNcCyP, rNcSRS2, or both rNcCyP and rNcSRS2 responded with high levels of NcCyP or NcSRS2 specific antibodies. Overall, mice received vaccines formulated with either rNcCyP or rNcCyP and rNcSRS2 had a higher (p
