    Abstract: The present disclosure describes devices, systems, and methods for allocating bandwidth among communication links in a telecommunication system. Some aspects can involve identifying multiple transmission modes used to transmit downlink signals via remote units of a telecommunications system to groups of terminal devices. Each group of terminal devices may receive downlink signals using a respective transmission mode. Respective weights can be assigned to the groups of terminal devices based on the transmission modes. The downlink signals, which are provided to each remote unit associate with each group of terminal devices, can be configured using a respective signal power that is associated with a respective weight for the group of terminal devices associated with the respective remote unit.

    Abstract: Certain features relate to a remote antenna unit having a multi-stage isolation sub-system for isolating uplink and downlink signal paths. A multi-stage isolation sub-system in the remote antenna unit can include a first stage device that is configured to generate a cancellation signal for canceling unwanted downlink signals received at the uplink antenna. The isolation sub-system can also include a second stage device configured to generate a cancellation signal that attenuates residual noise and intermodulation products generated in the downlink path and received in the uplink path. The multi-stage isolation sub-system can combine the cancellation signals with signals received on the uplink path in order to cancel or attenuate downlink leakage signals and residual noise present on the uplink path.

    Abstract: Certain aspects involve a wideband remote unit. The wideband remote unit can include one or more antennas and an analog-to-digital converter (“ADC”). The antenna can receive wideband signals. The wideband signals can include an uplink RF signal and a leaked downlink RF signal. The uplink RF signal can have an uplink signal power at or near a noise level. The leaked downlink RF signal can have a downlink signal power greater than the uplink signal power. The ADC can convert the received wideband signals to digital RF signals representing the uplink signal and the downlink signal. The wideband remote unit can transmit the digital RF signals to a unit of a DAS that is in communication with a base station.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing power allocation in distributed antenna systems and other signal distribution systems using variable and static gains. A power optimization sub-system can receive downlink signals from one or more base stations. The power optimization sub-system can group the downlink signals into a first set of downlink signals for which a static gain is to be applied and a second set of downlink signals for which a variable gain is to be applied. The power optimization sub-system can determine a gain for at least some of the signals to which a variable gain is to be applied. The determined gain can be sufficient to achieve a target metric. The power optimization sub-system can apply the static gain to the first set of signals and apply the determined gain to the second set of signals.

    Abstract: Certain features relate to a digital multichannel interface between a base station and a repeater in a telecommunications system, such as a distributed antenna system. The digital multichannel interface can provide streams of I/Q samples that carry information from multiple carriers of a wideband communications signal as well as semi-static control information for the telecommunications system. The digital multichannel interface can also transport frame timing information between the base station and the repeater. The frame timing information can maintain synchronization between the uplink transmit frames carrying uplink I/Q samples and the downlink transmit frames carrying downlink I/Q samples.
