Abstract: A telecommunications system including a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a signal distribution engine is provided. The signal distribution engine is executable by the processor device to detect incoming signals received by a DAS that includes a headend unit coupled to RAU(s) using a communication cables or optical fiber; determine information about the detected signals; assign specified signals received by the DAS to a specified RAU in response to a user input via a signal distribution graphical user interface, which includes representations of and associations between the specified signals, headend unit, and RAU(s), that manually associates the specified signals with the specified remote antenna unit; and in response to the user input, output instructions regarding how to route the specified signals from the headend unit to the specified remote antenna unit over a communication cable or optical fiber communicatively coupled to the specified remote antenna unit.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a system comprising a first signal path configured to receive a first uplink signal and a second signal path configured to receive a second uplink signal. The system further comprises a correlator communicatively coupled to the first signal path and the second signal path and configured to produce correlation data indicative of any correlation between the first uplink signal and the second uplink signal. The system further comprises a comparator communicatively coupled to the correlator and configured to cause, based on receiving the correlation data, a first variable gain device in the first signal path to adjust a gain of the first uplink signal and a second variable gain device in the second signal path to adjust a gain of the second uplink signal. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically configuring a distributed antenna system are provided. A configuration sub-system of the distributed antenna system can identify signal parameters for downlink signals received from one or more base stations via inputs of a unit in the distributed antenna system. The configuration sub-system can automatically determine a configuration plan for the distributed antenna system based on the automatically identified signal parameters. The configuration plan specifies how to combine subsets of the downlink signals for routing to remote antenna units of the distributed antenna system.

Abstract: A mobile communication system includes: a first antenna for receiving communication signals; processing circuitry for processing received communication signals; a second antenna for transmitting processed signals. The processing circuitry utilizes at least one configurable setting for processing received communication signals, the configurable setting being adaptable for varying the processing of received communication signals as the system moves through a mobile environment. The processing circuitry configured to: receive, over time, input representing current geographical location of the system; determine whether the system is entering a first geographical zone based on the input representing the current geographical location and path of system; and automatically adapt the configurable setting as the system enters the first geographical zone, wherein adaptation of configurable setting is based on known signal characteristics associated with the received signals from mobile devices in the first geographical zone.

Abstract: A master unit for use within a distributed antenna system includes: re-sampling devices configured to output re-sampled digital downlink signals by re-sampling digital downlink signals at customized resample rates based on at least one factor, the re-sampled digital downlink signals having a smaller bandwidth than the digital downlink signals; and a framer configured to multiplex the re-sampled digital downlink signals and to generate a first frame that includes the re-sampled digital downlink signals as framed data for transport to one or more remote units of the distributed antenna system, wherein the one or more remote units of the distributed antenna system are configured to transmit radio frequency signals using at least one antenna, wherein the transmitted radio frequency signals are derived from the framed data of the first frame received from the master unit.

Abstract: Certain aspects involve a wideband remote unit. The wideband remote unit can include one or more antennas and an analog-to-digital converter (“ADC”). The antenna can receive wideband signals. The wideband signals can include an uplink RF signal and a leaked downlink RF signal. The uplink RF signal can have an uplink signal power at or near a noise level. The leaked downlink RF signal can have a downlink signal power greater than the uplink signal power. The ADC can convert the received wideband signals to digital RF signals representing the uplink signal and the downlink signal. The wideband remote unit can transmit the digital RF signals to a unit of a DAS that is in communication with a base station.

Abstract: Certain features relate to improving the link-fault tolerance in a distributed antenna system (DAS) by utilizing a series of synchronous Ethernet frames. A receiving remote unit or a head-end unit in the DAS can predict the start of incoming Ethernet frames based on frame information extracted from previously received Ethernet frames. For example, a remote unit can be configured to receive one or more Ethernet frames, each of the one or more Ethernet frames including a start-of-frame field. After a period of time corresponding to the frame repetition rate, the remote unit can search for an additional start-of-frame field, indicating the receipt of the next Ethernet frame. The remote unit can extract the payload data from the next Ethernet frame based on the predicted value for the additional start-of-frame field.

Abstract: A unit includes circuitry configured to: receive a downlink signal; sub-divide the downlink signal into a sub-divided downlink signal having downlink signal components in a time domain, each downlink signal component corresponding to a respective sub-band; determine that at least one downlink signal component corresponds to at least one sub-band having data to be transmitted via a distributed antenna system; generate a transformed downlink signal representing the downlink signal in a frequency domain by performing a frequency transform on the downlink signal; determine that the at least one sub-band of the transformed downlink signal includes the data to be transmitted; extract the at least one sub-band from the transformed downlink signal at least in part by providing data for at least one portion of the transformed downlink signal in the frequency domain that corresponds to the at least one sub-band to the at least one remote antenna unit.

Abstract: A telecommunications system is provided that can re-sample a digitized signal at a resample rate that is based on one or more factors to better utilize bandwidth. The factors can include the bandwidth of the signal that the digitized signal represents, the amount of bandwidth owned or used by the carrier, the full bandwidth of the designated RF band, the bandwidth of the serial link, the frame length of the serial link, the segmentation of the frames on the serial link, and the capability of the equipment at the receiving end of a serial link. The re-sampled signal can be transmitted to another unit that is remote to the unit transmitting the signal. The other unit can include a re-sampling device that restores the re-sampled signal to a digital signal that can be converted to an analog signal for wireless transmission.
