    Abstract: A drug delivery device is provided for directly treating a treatment site. The device allows body fluids to perfuse past the device while it is expanded to increase the amount of treatment time that is possible. The drug is delivered through a hollow helical tube that extends around a support structure. The hollow tube includes a series of lateral holes to allow the drug to directly reach the desired treatment site.

    Abstract: A balloon catheter assembly including a catheter, a sleeve, and a balloon. The catheter has a body, an exterior surface, a lumen, a port providing fluid communication between the lumen and the exterior surface, and a coupling mechanism to couple the lumen to an inflation source. The sleeve has an interior surface facing the exterior surface, the sleeve being coaxial with the catheter and configured to move longitudinally about the catheter. The balloon is disposed about the catheter and has a middle segment covering the port, a distal segment coupled to the sleeve, and a proximal segment coupled to the catheter. The middle segment has a middle longitudinal stiffness, the distal segment has a distal longitudinal stiffness, and the proximal segment has a proximal longitudinal stiffness. The middle longitudinal stiffness is greater than the proximal longitudinal stiffness and the middle longitudinal stiffness is greater than the distal longitudinal stiffness.

Mating elements forming the interlocking joints maintain circumferential and axial engagement when the stent is in the radially compressed configuration, for example, during tracking of the stent to a treatment site of a body vessel, and become disengaged during radial expansion of the stent. The length of mating elements may be sized as large as the strut width. When disengaged, the disconnected the axial stent segments remain discrete stent structures separated from one another along the point of treatment.

    Abstract: A handle is provided for advancing a wire through a catheter, the handle including a handle body, a first wheel, a second wheel, and a coupling mechanism. The handle body has an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface defines a lumen extending along a longitudinal axis from a proximal end to a distal end. The first wheel is coupled to a first side of the handle body. A portion of the first wheel is movable toward the longitudinal axis into a first lumen side of the lumen to an engagement position to contact the wire. A second wheel is coupled to a second side of the handle body. A portion of the second wheel is adapted to extend into a second lumen side of the lumen which is different from the first lumen side.

    Abstract: A prosthesis is disclosed including an expandable frame having a first region and a second region coupled to one another. The first region includes a transition segment and a flex segment. The stent members of the transition segment have proximal and distal apices arranged in a peak-to-peak relationship with one another. At least a portion of proximal and distal apices of the transition segment remains uncoupled to one another. The flex segment includes a stent member having proximal and distal apices arranged in a peak-to-valley relationship with the transition segment. Longitudinal tie bars are intermittently coupled between apices the flex segment and the transition segment at coupling joints. The coupling joint is located where the proximal and distal apices of the stent members of the transition segment remain uncoupled to one another. The transition and flex segments may form an alternating pattern. A flareable proximal portion may be included.
