Abstract: Various stents and stent-graft systems for treatment of medical conditions are disclosed. In one embodiment, an exemplary stent-graft system may be used for endovascular treatment of a thoracic aortic aneurysm. The stent-graft system may comprise proximal and distal components, each comprising a graft having proximal and distal ends, where upon deployment the proximal and distal components at least partially overlap with one another to provide a fluid passageway therebetween. The proximal component may comprise a proximal stent having a plurality of proximal and distal apices connected by a plurality of generally straight portions, where a radius of curvature of at least one of the proximal apices may be greater than the radius of curvature of at least one of the distal apices. The distal component may comprise a proximal z-stent coupled to the graft, where the proximal end of the graft comprises at least scallop formed therein that generally follows the shape of the proximal z-stent. Further, the distal component may comprise at least one z-stent stent coupled to the distal end of the graft and extending distally therefrom that reduces proximal migration of the distal component.

Abstract: Examples of a stent is provided with interlocking joints removably coupling adjacent axial stent segments. Mating elements forming the interlocking joints maintain circumferential and axial engagement when the stent is in the radially compressed configuration, for example, during tracking of the stent to a treatment site of a body vessel, and become disengaged during radial expansion of the stent. The length of mating elements may be sized as large as the strut width. When disengaged, the disconnected the axial stent segments remain discrete stent structures separated from one another along the point of treatment.

Abstract: A stent comprises a framework that includes a sequence of cells that each occupy a discrete segment of the stent length, and each of the cells includes a plurality of struts with ends connected at respective vertices. In some forms the framework includes T-bars that connect adjacent cells, where the T-bars have a column that has a minimum width perpendicular to the long axis that is wider than a maximum width of each of the struts, and the column defines at least one slot. In other forms, the framework exhibits geometries that facilitate a high packing density for the framework when the stent is in a compressed tube or loading configuration.

Abstract: A prosthesis is disclosed including an expandable frame having a first region and a second region coupled to one another. The first region includes a transition segment and a flex segment. The stent members of the transition segment have proximal and distal apices arranged in a peak-to-peak relationship with one another. At least a portion of proximal and distal apices of the transition segment remains uncoupled to one another. The flex segment includes a stent member having proximal and distal apices arranged in a peak-to-valley relationship with the transition segment. Longitudinal tie bars are intermittently coupled between apices the flex segment and the transition segment at coupling joints. The coupling joint is located where the proximal and distal apices of the stent members of the transition segment remain uncoupled to one another. The transition and flex segments may form an alternating pattern. A flareable proximal portion may be included.
