    摘要: A powered surgical stapler is disclosed. The stapler includes a housing, an endoscopic portion extending distally from the housing and defining a first longitudinal axis, a drive motor disposed at least partially within a housing and a firing rod disposed in mechanical cooperation with the drive motor. The firing rod is rotatable by the motor about the first longitudinal axis extending therethrough. The stapler also includes an end effector disposed adjacent a distal portion of the endoscopic portion. The end effector is in mechanical cooperation with the firing rod to fire a surgical fastener. The stapler further includes a current sensor configured to measure a current draw on the motor and a controller configured to determine whether the surgical fastener is successfully deployed based on the current draw on the motor.

    摘要: A surgical fastening device includes a handle assembly having a stationary handle and a movable handle and an elongated member extending distally from the handle portion. The elongated member includes a distal end portion. The device also includes a pair of firing rods operably coupled with the movable handle and movable between a proximal position and a distal position. A tool assembly has a plurality of helical fasteners supported therein and includes a pair of opposing jaw members. At least one of the jaw members is movable in relation to the other jaw member between spaced and approximated positions. The jaw members are configured to form a pair of radial channels when the jaw members are in the approximated position. The firing rods are configured to advance helical fasteners through at least one radial channel and into tissue upon movement from the proximal position to the distal position.

    摘要: There is provided a surgical stapler having a staple formation recognition system incorporated into an anvil member of the surgical stapler. In one series of embodiments, a trace system and controller form an open electrical circuit and a surgical staple acts as an electrical connector to complete an electrical circuit and confirm the proper formation of the surgical staple. In another series of embodiments, a trace system and a controller form a complete electrical circuit which is broken by engagement of a surgical staple with a trace pad of the trace system to signal proper formation of the surgical staple. There is also provided a knife blade position indication system for tracking the progress of a knife blade through the anvil member and relative to staple crimping pockets formed in the anvil member.
