Abstract: The present invention relates to an organic flow cell battery having a material comprising an organic molecule that can be used as the electroactive redox material for both electrodes of the battery. By enabling two-electron processes both of the oxidation and reduction to occur in a single molecule, a total of 4-electron transitions is achieved, which allows the organic molecule to be used on both sides of the separator, reducing material costs and allowing the battery to be charge in either direction with equal ease.

Abstract: This invention relates to polymer-based electrodes comprising at least one layer containing: a continuous, solid and porous electroactive polymer material, and liquid electrolyte present in the pores of the electroactive polymer material. As a result of the modified morphology of the polymer layer thin-film charge-storage devices using these polymer-based electrodes exhibit improved charge-storage and current output and enable manufacturing of a gradual continuum between batteries and supercapacitors. In addition, the invention relates to methods of producing the above polymer-based electrodes and thin-film charge-storage devices.

Abstract: A composition suitable for use in an organic light-emitting layer (103) of an organic light-emitting device having an anode (101) and a cathode (105), the composition comprising a fluorescent light-emitting material, a first triplet-accepting material and a second triplet-accepting material that is different from the first triplet-accepting material. The fluorescent light-emitting material may be a repeat unit of a light-emitting polymer, and the first and second triplet-accepting materials may independently be repeat units of the light-emitting polymer or may be mixed with the fluorescent light-emitting material.

Abstract: A charge storage device and system comprises an anode assembly and a cathode assembly, each of the assemblies comprising a charge storage layer of a conjugated polymer material, wherein the conjugated polymer material of the charge storage layer of the cathode assembly is air stable and non-ionic in its discharged state, and wherein the conjugated polymer material of the charge storage layer of the anode assembly includes is air stable and non-ionic in its discharged state. The polymer materials are fully conjugated along the main chain, and are made by processes that do not involve oxidative or electrochemical polymerisation. The charge storage layers are formed from solutions of these polymers, and are amorphous and continuous.
