    Abstract: A control circuit of a motor control apparatus includes a shift range switchover control part for rotationally driving a rotor of the motor to a target position, which corresponds to a target shift range, a wall-hitting control part for rotating the rotor until the driven body hits one of limit positions of a movable range of the driven body at a speed lower than that of the rotor controlled by the shift range switchover control part, and a speed check part for checking whether a rotation speed of the rotor is within a predetermined speed range, when the rotor is rotated by the wall-hitting control part. The wall-hitting control part limits a power supply angular interval to be smaller when the rotation speed of the rotor is within the predetermined speed range than when the rotation speed of the rotor is lower than the predetermined speed range.

    Abstract: A shift position switching device for shifting gears in association with a shift position. The device includes a shift mechanism switching between shift positions using a drive power of a motor, an encoder outputting pulse signals in sync with a rotation of the motor, and a controller rotating the motor to a target rotation position corresponding to an intended gear. The controller rotates the motor toward a dead-end on a first shift position side of the shift mechanism while observing a motor rotation speed or an acceleration of rotation of the motor based on the outputted pulse signals of the encoder. Also, the controller learns, as a reference position on the first shift position side, a first rotation position of the motor.

    Abstract: A shift range switcher includes a motor for switching a shift range and a controller for energizing the motor. The controller estimates temperatures of the motor and controller. The controller adds to the estimated controller temperature a value corresponding to heat generation in the controller due to energization of the motor. The controller subtracts from the estimated controller temperature a value corresponding to heat release from the controller due to de-energization of the motor. The controller adds to the estimated motor temperature a value corresponding to heat generation in the motor due to the energization. The controller subtracts from the estimated motor temperature a value corresponding to heat release from the motor due to the de-energization. The controller prohibits or restricts operations of the controller and the motor when at least one of the controller and motor estimated temperatures reaches an allowable temperature limit.

    Abstract: When a failure of a feedback control operation of an electric motor is sensed, a control unit changes the feedback control operation to an open loop control operation. At the time of executing the open loop control operation, the control unit sequentially changes the exciting phase of the motor without executing feedback of information of the count value of the encoder counter and rotates a rotor of the motor until a count value of an exciting phase change counter reaches an open loop target count value, which corresponds to a target rotational position of the rotor. When the control unit changes the feedback control operation to the open loop control operation, the control unit sets the open loop target count value by correcting a feedback target count value based on an exciting phase deviation correction value for the count value of the encoder counter.

    Abstract: When electric power supply is started, an initial driving operation is performed to switch over a power supply phase of a motor in open-loop control. Initial learning processing is performed to learn a phase deviation correction value for the power supply phase relative to a count value of a pulse signal of an encoder. As a restraint caused by a shape of a detent mechanism, the motor need be rotationally driven so that a detent lever does not move in a negative direction beyond a bottom position of a P-range in the initial driving operation.
