Abstract: A radar apparatus includes an antenna unit and a cover unit. The cover unit is arranged at a position through which an electromagnetic wave sent and received by the antenna unit passes. The cover unit has, in an order from closer to the antenna unit, a first dielectric layer formed of a dielectric and a second dielectric layer formed of a dielectric having a dielectric constant different from that of the first dielectric layer. The first dielectric layer is configured to have a thickness not more than that for a maximum external transmittance. The external transmittance indicates a transmittance of an electromagnetic wave, which is emitted in a direction of an incidence angle with respect to the first dielectric layer, which is equal to a maximum sensing angle, when the electromagnetic wave is transmitted through the cover unit.

Abstract: A dielectric substrate includes a plurality of pattern layers. A ground plate to be used as a ground plane is formed in a first pattern layer of the dielectric substrate. The conductive patches are periodically arranged, and sides of the conductive patches along at least one direction are set at a length to cause resonance of a radio wave that propagates through a surface of the dielectric substrate.

Abstract: An antenna device includes a dielectric substrate having a first surface on which an antenna part is formed and a second surface on which a base plate is formed. The antenna part has one or more antenna patterns configured to act as radiating elements. The antenna patterns resonate in one or more resonance directions to incident waves having an operating frequency of the antenna part, thereby generating emitted waves having polarized waves different from those of transmitted/received waves which are transmitted/received by the antenna part. For each of the resonance directions, the antenna patterns include at least one line pattern having a width which is narrower than the total width of the antenna patterns in a direction perpendicular to the resonance direction.

Abstract: A radar system detects an object using radar waves and includes an antenna surface and a cover part. The antenna surface is provided with at least one array antenna arranged on a collinear arrangement straight line. The cover part covers the front of an antenna of the array antenna, where the front of the antenna is the side away from which radar waves are radiated with respect to the antenna surface as a boundary. The at least one array antenna is provided with at least one unit antenna where a plurality of antenna elements that radiate radar waves of the same phase are arranged in the same direction as the arrangement straight line. The unit antenna is arranged in a direction perpendicular to the arrangement straight line along the antenna surface. The cover part is configured such that the incidence angle of the radar waves is equal to or less than a Brewster angle.

Abstract: A radar apparatus is provided with transmitting means, receiving means, target detection means, azimuth detection means and a cover member. Abstract: A radar device is equipped with a radar emitting section, a radar input section, a detector, and a cover. The radar emitting section radiates an electromagnetic wave. The radar input section receives a return of the electromagnetic wave from an object. The detector works to detect the object using the return of the electromagnetic wave inputted to the radar input section. The cover covers an object portion that is at least one of the radar emitting section and the radar input section. The cover is designed to have a convex lens formed on a portion of the cover through which the electromagnetic wave passes to the object portion. The cover is made in the form of a radome. The structure of such a radome serves to decrease the power consumption of the radar device.
