    摘要: A system and its method for creating a microchannel in the trabecular meshwork of an eye include a laser unit for generating a laser beam, and an imaging unit for creating an image of the trabecular meshwork. The system also includes a computer which defines the microchannel. A comparator that is connected with the computer then controls the laser unit to move the focal point of the laser beam. This focal point movement is accomplished to create the microchannel, while minimizing deviations of the focal point from the defined microchannel.

    摘要: A system and method are provided for altering the optical characteristics of an Intraocular Lens (IOL), in situ, using laser techniques. Specifically, a computer-controlled laser unit either creates microbubbles, or converts inclusions, inside the IOL, to establish a predetermined optical barrier having a predetermined opacity. The resultant optical barrier is oriented in the IOL to control light passing through the IOL, and to thereby minimize or correct adverse optical effects that would otherwise be present.

    摘要: A system and method are provided for obviating Posterior Capsule Opacification (PCO) which require an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) device for imaging the interface surface between the posterior surface of an intraocular lens (IOL) and the capsular bag. Further, the OCT device is used to identify areas of relative opacity caused by a biological growth on the interface surface in the optical zone of the IOL. A laser unit is then used to direct the focal point of a femtosecond laser beam onto the areas of relative opacity to ablate the biological growth by Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) to thereby obviate the PCO.

    摘要: A system and method for creating a line recognition template that replicates an object is provided for use as a control reference during ophthalmic surgery on the object. Creation of the template first requires aligning a plurality of reference points along a central “z” axis, with anatomically measured lengths (Δ“z”n) between adjacent reference points. Axially-symmetric surfaces can then be traced between selected, adjacent, reference points to create the template. For the present invention, the location of reference points, and the tracing of axially-symmetric surfaces, are based on a cross sectional image of the object for surgery. Preferably, the cross sectional image is obtained using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) techniques.

    摘要: A system and method for performing Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) on a target tissue includes a detector for imaging the interface surface between the target tissue and a base tissue. Also included is a laser unit for generating a laser beam, and for focusing the laser beam to a focal point. A computer is provided for controlling movement of the focal point. Specifically, this control is accomplished to maintain the focal point in the target tissue, but beyond a predetermined distance from the interface surface. For the present invention, the predetermined distance is established by considerations of laser beam geometry, which are applied in the context of images that are created of the interface surface.
