    摘要： The invention relates to an apparatus for recording a main file comprising a main information signal and auxiliary files comprising auxiliary signals in a track on a record carrier. The apparatus writes in a first location a block of an auxiliary file comprising a part of an auxiliary information signal having a specific presentation time, in a second location a subsequent block of the corresponding auxiliary file and in at least one location between the first and second location at least one block of the main file comprising a part of the main information signal having a presentation time which corresponds to the presentation time of the auxiliary information signal to be written in the first location. In this way the respective files are interleaved written on the record carrier such that the jumping time between subsequent read actions is significantly reduced. This results in an increase of the effective read bit-rate of a playback device.

    摘要： An apparatus for recording a sequence of video data signals on a record carrier has been proposed. The apparatus comprises input means (1) for receiving video data signals, generating means (100) for generating characteristic point information signals, processing means (100) for processing the characteristic point information signals for a plurality of characteristic points into a sequence of characteristic points information signals (CPI) and writing means (102) for writing the sequence of video data signals and the sequence of characteristic points information signals on the record carrier. The characteristic point information signals identify a characteristic point in the sequence of video data signals. Various measures are proposed in relation to the CPI aiming at improving quality of trickplay and random access playback operations.

    摘要： The present invention relates to a record carrier, drive device and method of reading from or writing to the record carrier, wherein a predetermined navigation area (DN) is provided on said record carrier for storing at least one predetermined parameter specifying at least one of a logical format and an application format used on said record carrier. Thereby, a universal portable disc format can be provided, where a single disc can contain content in many formats from many different devices and all these content types can coexist. A clean separation of physical, logical and application level structures is thus possible without loosing any flexibility or ability of drive devices to maintain these structures.

Linear real-time playback of the data stream and running of the linear application is commenced from a starting point thereof. On entering a non real-time playback phase, select frames from the data stream are mapped using a mapping scheme to create an interactive trick play stream. Events from the linear application are mapped into the interactive trick play stream using the disclosed mapping scheme.

According to the method provided by the present invention, the description information of the program content and the description information of the enhancement content are first acquired, and then compared with each other; then it is judged whether the program corresponds to the enhancement content according to the result of the comparison; and finally, the program content is played independently of the enhancement content if the program content does not correspond to the enhancement content. With the present invention, the playback problem causing from the non-match of the program content and the enhancement content in an optical disc with the enhancement format resulting from the revision of the optical disc by a conventional optical disc recording apparatus that does not support the enhancement format can be avoided.
