摘要: The invention relates to a method for forming a multilayered coating film having a bright feel specific to a metallic coating film and a fineness of a luster color pigment with controlling the miscibility between each coating film when final coatings comprising an intermediate coating composition, a base coating composition and a clear coating composition are applied in this order by a wet-on-wet method to form coating films. The method for forming a multi-layered coating film comprises a step of applying an intermediate coating composition, a base coating composition and a clear coating composition in this order on a substrate formed with an electrodeposition coating film, and a step of baking and curing the applied three layers simultaneously, wherein the base coating composition contains crosslinking polymer microparticles and a nonaqueous dispersion resin.

摘要: A surface coating applied to a subject surface includes an undercoating, a color base layer, coated over the undercoating layer, which contains a coloring material, and a color clear layer, coated over the color base layer, which contains a coloring dye of a hue within +/-10 from a hue of the coloring material of the base color layer on the 100-division Mansell hue ring. The color clear layer may be applied with a paint spray device while rotating the subject surface around an axis and continuously moving the subject surface along the axis to form a spiral pattern of paint spray relative to and around the subject surface at regular pitches. Preferably, the ratio of each of the regular pitches to a width of the pattern of paint spray is less than 0.3.

摘要: A method for repairing the surface of a coating involves the step of rubbing a compound having a Vickers hardness of above Hv 2,000 g/mm.sup.2 on the surface of the coating with a buff at a uniform surface pressure ranging from 2 to 20 g/cm.sup.2. This method permits the repair of scratched or scraped coating surfaces to produce coating surfaces of high quality without causing fade on the surfaces.

摘要: The coating method contains a spraying step in which a paint is sprayed at least on a coating substrate extending in an upward and downward direction to a film thickness thicker than causing sags of the sprayed paint. The coating substrate on which the paint is sprayed is rotated about the horizontal axis while the sprayed paint is dried until it does not sag any more. The coating apparatus includes a carriage conveying the coating substrate arranged to run along the conveying direction, and the carriage is provided with a supporting base for supporting the coating substrate rotatively about the horizontal axis. One embodiment for rotating the substrate supported by the supporting base is a spring that is disposed on the carriage to rotate the substrate by means of a restoring force produced by the spring. On the passage for conveying the carriage is disposed a force storing mechanism for storing the restoring force in the spring that released the restoring force. Another embodiment therefor is a combination of a chain disposed along the conveying passage for the carriage with a sprocket disposed on the carriage. The sprocket is engageable with the chain and operatively coupled to the coating substrate. By disposing the chain in a fixed manner, on the one hand, the substrate is caused to rotate as the carriage is being conveyed. By dividing the chain, on the other, the substrate is caused to rotate while the conveyance of the carriage is suspended.

摘要: In the coating method containing a coating step for coating a substrate with a paint and a drying step for drying the paint coated thereon, the paint is sprayed on a side extending in an up-and-downward direction and a side extending a horizontal direction in the coating step in such a manner that it is coated in a given film thickness on the horizontally extending side and in a film thickness on the up-and-downwardly extending side, which is thicker than its sagging limit thickness in which it sags. The coating is effected such that the coating on the up-and-downwardly extending side is finished at the same time as or subsequent to the coating on the horizontally extending side.In the drying step, the substrate is rotation about its horizontal axis extending in a horizontal and longitudinal direction of the substrate during a period of time from before the paint sags to until it is cured to a sagless state. The rotation of the substrate is carried out at a speed which is high enough to reverse its vertical position to its horizontal position before the paint sags due to gravity yet which is low enough to cause no sagging as a result of centrifugal force.

摘要: The invention provides methods and apparatus for conducting electrostatic spray coating by which an improved coating layer made uniform in gloss, hardness, weather-tightness, and other characteristics is obtained on an object to be coated. The coating layer is formed with use of a rotary spray head device which is provided with a funnel-like body having an inner wall surface and an open end portion. The rotary spray head device is driven to turn on an axis of rotation surrounded by the inner wall surface of the funnel-like body, and supplied with plural kinds of coating material which are discharged to a substantially common location on the inner wall surface of the funnel-like body simultaneously through respective separate paths so as to form their respective layers superimposed on said inner wall surface of the funnel-like body and move toward said open end portion of the funnel-like body.
