摘要: Provided is a water-based coating composition capable of forming a multilayer coating film having an excellent finished appearance and having excellent storage stability. A water-based coating composition to be used as a water-based first colored coating (X) in a 3-coat-1-bake multilayer coating formation method which sequentially applies a water-based first colored coating (X), a water-based second colored coating (Y), and a clear coating (Z) and heats and cures the obtained three-layer multilayer coating film simultaneously, wherein the water-based coating composition contains at least one resin selected from acrylic resins (A) and polyester resins (B), a curing agent (C), and urethane resin particles (D) obtained from structural components including a polyisocyanate component (d1) containing at least one diisocyanate (d1-1) selected from xylylene diisocyanate and hydrogenated xylylene diisocyanate and a polyol component (d2).

摘要: A method for forming a multi-layer coating includes the step of sequentially applying a layer of a primer coating composition, a layer of a base coating composition, and a layer of a clear coating composition on a substrate. The clear coating composition includes a film forming binder and an organic liquid carrier. The film forming binder includes at least one monomer unit including the condensation product of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid group and glycidyl ester of a mixture of tertiary acids having 9 to 11 carbon atoms having at least one methyl group on the α-carbon. The method further includes the step of simultaneously curing the applied three layers by baking.

摘要: An alkoxysilane is contacted with water and an inorganic acid to form a first composition. A zirconium alkoxide is contacted with an organic acid to form a second composition. One or more alkoxysilanes and an organic acid are contacted with a mixture of the first and second compositions to form a sol-gel composition, to which a photoinitiator is added. The sol-gel composition has a ratio of a number of moles of silicon to a number of moles of zirconium (nSi/nZr) ranging from about 2 to about 10. The sol-gel composition is applied on a substrate (e.g., an aluminum alloy substrate) multiple times to form multiple sol-gel layers, and at least one of the sol-gel layers is cured by UV radiation. The multiple sol-gel layers are then thermally cured.

摘要: The present invention relates to a solventborne, pigmented coating composition having a solids fraction of at least 35%, which comprises, based on the total amount of the coating composition, 0.1 to 1.5 wt % of at least one copolymer (A), where the copolymer (A) is obtainable by copolymerization of a mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers (a) in at least one organic solvent, the mixture of monomers (a) to be polymerized consists of (a1) 10 to 60 mol % of at least one monomer of the formula (I) below where R1═C1 to C4 alkoxy, R2═C1 to C4 alkyl, and m=0 to 2, and also (a2) 40 to 90 mol % of at least one further olefinically unsaturated monomer, and the copolymer (A) possesses a glass transition temperature Tg of at least −30° C. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a multicoat paint system using the coating composition, and to the multicoat paint systems themselves.

摘要: A multi-layer paint film satisfies paint film performance, such as water resistance, impact resistance and the like, required of an automobile paint film and which has excellent paint film appearance is obtained. The method comprises coating an aqueous first base paint (A) over an electrodeposited cured paint film to form a first base paint film, and then coating an aqueous second base paint (B) over the first base paint film without carrying out preliminary drying by heating after forming the first base paint film to form a second base paint film, preliminary drying by heating is carried out after forming the second base paint film, coating a single-liquid type clear paint (C) over the second base paint film to form a clear coat paint film. These three paint film layers are heated and cured at the same time.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for producing a multicoat paint system on a metallic substrate, in which a basecoat or a plurality of directly successive basecoats are produced directly on a metallic substrate coated with a cured electrocoat, a clearcoat is produced directly on the one basecoat or the uppermost of the plurality of basecoats, and then the one or more basecoats and the clearcoat are jointly cured, and wherein at least one basecoat material used for production of the basecoats comprises at least one aqueous dispersion comprising at least one copolymer, said copolymer being preparable by (i) initially charging an aqueous dispersion of at least one polyurethane, and then (ii) polymerizing a mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers in the presence of the polyurethane from (i), in which (a) a water-soluble initiator is used, (b) the olefinically unsaturated monomers are metered in such that a concentration of 6.0% by weight, based on the total amount of olefinically unsaturated monomers used for polymerization, in the reaction solution is not exceeded over the entire reaction time, and (c) the mixture of the olefinically unsaturated monomers comprises at least one polyolefinically unsaturated monomer.
