摘要: A highly reflective surface coating on a substrate is formed by a coating method in a coating line. A paint is sprayed on the substrate in a viscosity of 18 seconds or lower when measured by means of Ford Cup #4 at 20.degree. C. in a film thickness thicker than a thickness at which the paint sags, the paint containing a solvent or solvents, having a boiling point as high as 110.degree. C. or lower in an amount of 50% by weight or higher. After completion of the spraying, a coat of the paint is dried by a drying step including sequential setting and baking steps. The substrate is held in an ambient temperature during the setting step which is lower than the ambient temperature during the baking step, and the rotation of the substrate in the drying step being carried out about its horizontal axis at a speed which is high enough to rotate the substrate from a vertical position to a horizontal position before the paint coated thereon substantially sags due to gravity yet which is low enough so as to cause no sagging as a result of centrifugal force, thereby allowing the coat formed thereon to achieve a substantially sagless state. This coating method prevents the paint from swelling on an edge portion of the substrate forming a mass, whereby a coat surface is provided with a high degree of flatness.

摘要: A highly reflective surface coating is formed by spraying a paint on a substrate as a vehicle body in a thickness thicker than a thickness at which the paint sags and rotating the substrate about its horizontal axis at a speed between a lower limit and an upper limit in order to cause no sagging until the paint sprayed is cured to a sagless state. Before the paint is sprayed in that thickness, an edge portion of the substrate is lowered than other portions thereof, thus preventing a mass of the paint from swelling on a top coat at its edge portion and providing a good appearance on the surface coating. The lowering of the edge portion thereof is effected by lowering the substrate itself without any coat or by spraying the edge portion in a film thickness thinner than the other portion thereof. The coat sprayed with a paint containing a volatilizable solvent may be dried through sequential setting and baking steps, while a powder paint sprayed may be baked without setting. The paint containing such a solvent may cause sagging in both the setting and baking steps or only in the setting step. The sagging is prevented by rotating the substrate during the time when the paint is sagging.

摘要: A decorative film structure includes: a surface layer constituted by a transparent or translucent resin layer; an achromatic layer constituted by dots provided on a back surface of the surface layer; and a metal luster layer provided on the back surface of the surface layer to fill a gap between the dots. As surface roughness of a front surface of the surface layer, an Ra is 2 μm or less and either an Rmax is 4 μm or less or a Sm is 50 μm or more. A lightness L* of the achromatic layer is 0-80. An area of each dot when viewed from a front side of the surface layer is 10−3-105 μm2. A dot area percentage per a unit area when viewed from the front side of the surface layer is 1-80%. A stimulus value Y45° of the metal luster layer is 10000 or more.

摘要: A surface coating applied to a subject surface includes an undercoating, a color base layer, coated over the undercoating layer, which contains a coloring material, and a color clear layer, coated over the color base layer, which contains a coloring dye of a hue within +/-10 from a hue of the coloring material of the base color layer on the 100-division Mansell hue ring. The color clear layer may be applied with a paint spray device while rotating the subject surface around an axis and continuously moving the subject surface along the axis to form a spiral pattern of paint spray relative to and around the subject surface at regular pitches. Preferably, the ratio of each of the regular pitches to a width of the pattern of paint spray is less than 0.3.
