Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for selecting a first travel route for a vehicle from a database based on particulate filter regeneration requirements and an inferred initial driver state of mind. In one example, the initial driver state of mind may be selected based on a past driver history, and during travel along the first travel route, the driver state of mind may be updated based on the driver interactions with traffic. The route selection may also be updated based on the updated driver state of mind.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are described for detecting ammonia slip. In one example method, an exhaust system with two NOx sensors uses transient responses of the NOx sensors to allocate tailpipe NOx sensor output to NOx and NH3 levels therein. An ammonia slip detection counter with gains is included that determines a probability of NOx and NH3 based on the measured sensor activities that are further processed by a controller to adjust one or more parameters based on the allocation and changes of sensor output.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are described for detecting ammonia slip. In one example method, an amount of exhaust gas recirculation is reduced when output from an exhaust gas sensor indicates an increase in nitrogen oxide above a threshold amount. When the sensor output increases above a second threshold while the exhaust gas recirculation is reduced, the sensor output is allocated to nitrogen oxide; and when the sensor output does not increase above a second threshold while the exhaust gas recirculation is reduced, the sensor output is allocated to ammonia.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for monitoring a health of a vehicle component. In one embodiment, a method is provided, comprising dividing a population of vehicles of a connected vehicle population into a plurality of vehicle classes; for each vehicle class of the plurality of vehicle classes, training a class-specific model of the vehicle class to predict a health status variable of a vehicle component included in the vehicle class based on labelled data from historic databases and calibration data; and for each vehicle class of the plurality of vehicle classes, using a first Federated Learning strategy to request local model data from each vehicle of a plurality of vehicles of the vehicle class; receive the local model data from the plurality of vehicles; update the class-specific model based on the received local model data; and send updated parameters of the class-specific model to vehicles included in the vehicle class.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for maintaining a database with details of frequently travelled routes and selecting a travel route for a vehicle from the database based on particulate filter regeneration requirements. In one example, a method may include selecting one or more routes from the database based on a current particulate filter soot level, fuel efficiency, travel time, operator behavior, etc., ranking the routes based on the particulate filter regeneration efficiency of each of the one or more routes. At vehicle key-off, the database may be updated with information regarding the travelled route including a level of particulate filter regeneration achieved during the drive cycle.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling boost pressure and exhaust gas recirculation in a split exhaust system. In one example, a first portion of exhaust may be routed from a cylinder to an exhaust turbine via a first exhaust valve and a second, remaining portion of exhaust may be routed as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) via a second exhaust valve, the timing and lift of each of the first valve profile and the second valve profile adjusted based on boost error and EGR error. Further, motor torque from an electric motor may be supplied to the turbocharger to attain a desired boost pressure and a desired EGR flow.
