The carrier has a length at least about 0.2 mm, a width at least about 0.2 mm, and a height in a range from about 0.05 mm to 1.2 mm and each of the structured indentations has a major axis in a range from about 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm, a minor axis in a range from about 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm and a depth in a range from about 0.025 mm to about 0.5 mm. A method of making the carrier, and culturing induced pluripotent stem cells using the same carrier are also provided.
Abstract:
A method of making a master cure tool for applying a texture to an aerodynamic surface includes the steps of: providing a foil which is metallic and has a textured surface; applying the foil to a forming surface of a rigid forming tool which is compound curved, and plastically deforming the foil to conform to the forming surface, so as to define a foil layer; annealing the foil layer using heat or a combination of heat and pressure; and bonding the foil layer to a support body, thereby defining the master cure tool.
Abstract:
An additive manufacturing system includes a laser device, a build plate, a first scanning device, and an alignment system. The laser device is configured to generate a laser beam. The build plate has a position relative to the laser device. The first scanning device is configured to selectively direct the laser beam across the build plate. The laser beam generates a melt pool on the build plate. The alignment system includes a fiducial marks projector configured to project a plurality of fiducial marks across the build plate. Each fiducial mark has a location on the build plate. The alignment system also includes an optical detector configured to detect the location of each of the fiducial marks on the build plate. The alignment system is configured to detect the position of the build plate relative to the laser device.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods and systems for rapid testing of films used in the manufacture of bioprocess bags. The methods described herein allow for determination of resistance to flexural fatigue while mimicking actual conditions in bioprocesses such as flexion and subsequent fatigue and failure of a bioprocess bag made of a film when it is placed on a rocking platform.
Abstract:
A modular method of manufacturing a waveguide is disclosed. The method includes positioning a mold insert including a plurality of mold prototypes, along at least one side wall of a molding equipment such that micro-optic structures of each mold prototype in the plurality of mold prototypes, faces a mold cavity. Each mold prototype extends along a length of the mold insert and the plurality of mold prototypes is disposed adjacent one another along a height of the mold insert. The method further includes feeding a material into the mold cavity for molding the material in the mold cavity to generate waveguide including a major surface having an optical pattern, where the optical pattern includes a plurality of elongated facets. Each of the plurality of elongated facets extends into the major surface and along a length of the waveguide. Further, the optical pattern extends along a height of the waveguide.
Abstract:
A method for ammonia synthesis using a water-gas shift membrane reactor (WGSMR) is presented. The method includes carrying out a water-gas shift reaction in the WGSMR to form a first product stream and a carbon dioxide (CO2) stream, wherein the first product stream includes nitrogen (N2) and hydrogen (H2), and a molar ratio of H2 to N2 in the first product stream is about 3. The method further includes separating at least a portion of the residual CO2 in the first product stream in a CO2 separation unit to form a second product stream, and separating at least a portion of the residual CO2 and carbon monoxide (CO) in the second product stream in a methanator unit to form a third product stream. The method further includes generating an ammonia stream from the third product stream in an ammonia synthesis unit. A system for ammonia synthesis is also presented.
