    Abstract: Compact electric drive units and vehicles with such drive units are provided. An exemplary electric drive unit includes an electric motor configured to provide an electric motor torque; an input differential configured to split the electric motor torque into a first path and a second path; a final drive gear on each path; a pinion gear on each path; and a rear transfer shaft assembly and a front transfer shaft assembly on each path. Further, each pinion gear is configured to transfer torque to a respective rear transfer shaft assembly and a respective front transfer shaft assembly, and the respective rear transfer and front transfer shaft assemblies are configured to transfer torque to the respective final drive gear.

    Abstract: A power take-off (PTO) system for a motor vehicle includes a PTO housing. The PTO housing is mounted to a transmission case. A disconnect clutch assembly is positioned within the PTO housing acting when supplied with a first volume of a pressurized oil from the transmission case to engage an output shaft member. A controlled lube oil circuit is isolated from the first volume of the pressurized oil. The controlled lube oil circuit supplies a second volume of the pressurized oil directly to the disconnect clutch assembly to lubricate the disconnect clutch assembly. A lube oil drain return is connected to the PTO housing. The lube oil drain return receives oil that collects inside the PTO housing to be returned to the transmission case.

    Abstract: A chain drive power take off assembly drives a hydraulic fluid pump from a torque converter input of a motor vehicle. The assembly includes a first, chain drive sprocket which is coupled to and driven by a engine output/torque converter input member such as an engine crankshaft or transmission input member, a chain and a second, driven chain sprocket which is coupled to a stub shaft and which, in turn, is coupled to an input shaft of the hydraulic pump. The driven sprocket resides in a housing secured to the side of the transmission and the pump is secured to the housing with its input shaft and axis of rotation disposed offset from and parallel to the axis of rotation of the transmission and torque converter input member.
