Abstract:
A system and method for providing real-time feedback of remote collaborative communication includes: processing first audio signals to extract first speech-related features therefrom; processing first EEG signals to extract first brain activity features therefrom; processing second audio signals to extract second speech-related features therefrom; processing second EEG signals to extract second brain activity features therefrom; processing the first and second speech-related features to determine if the speech from the first and second users exhibits positive or negative vocal entrainment; processing the first and second brain activity features to determine if the brain activity of the first and second users is aligned or misaligned; and generating feedback, on at least one display device, that indicates if the speech from the first and second users exhibits positive or negative vocal entrainment and if the brain activity of the first and second users is aligned or misaligned.
Abstract:
A method of operating an aircraft during a flight is provided. An onboard monitoring subsystem of the aircraft detects that a flight crew member is fatigued, and an automated flight crew training exercise is activated in response to detecting that the flight crew member is fatigued. The flight crew member is then engaged with the automated flight crew training exercise, including instructions intended to alleviate flight crew fatigue.
Abstract:
A vertical profile display includes weather information for an aircraft. In some examples, the weather is displayed in the vertical profile display as a plurality of weather blocks, each block indicating the weather in a volume of space associated with the block. In addition, in some examples, the vertical profile display shows a vertical profile view of a flight path of the aircraft and includes indications of primary weather and secondary weather, where the indication of primary weather is visually distinct from the indication of secondary weather.
Abstract:
Aircraft display systems and methods. Flight data is received from a Flight Management System (FMS) or other flight data source. A map display is generated based on the flight data including a depiction of a flight path and a plurality of waypoints or other fixes. A user selection of one of the waypoints or other fixes is received. An edit dialog box is generated. A value for a constraint or condition for the selected one of the waypoints or fixes is entered in the edit dialog box display by the user via a user interface device. The value for the constraint or condition is applied to the selected one of the waypoints or fixes via the FMS or other flight data source. The map display is generated including the depiction of the flight path and the plurality of waypoints or fixes. An icon is tagged to the selected one of the waypoints or fixes. The icon denotes an existence of the constraint or condition and a type of the constraint or condition. A constraint or condition dialog box is generated providing further information on the constraint or condition, in response to the user selecting the icon using the user interface device.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for providing enhanced autopilot mode awareness for a pilot of an aircraft. The apparatus comprises an autopilot control interface that allows the pilot to activate an operational mode of an autopilot system for the aircraft and to set aviation function parameters of the autopilot system. An autopilot status interface is included that displays the operational mode of the autopilot system and a current status of the aviation function parameters that are controlled by the autopilot system, and an indicator of anticipated actions by the autopilot system to control the aviation function parameters.
Abstract:
A vertical profile display includes weather information for an aircraft. In some examples, the weather is displayed in the vertical profile display with a hazard band indication. The hazard band indication includes an upper limit line positioned within the vertical profile view at a position corresponding to an altitude greater than or equal to an altitude above which no hazardous weather cells were detected. In some examples, the vertical profile display also includes one or more weather icons, with each weather icon indicating a weather condition for a volume of space.
Abstract:
A system and method monitor aircraft state parameters, for example, aircraft movement and flight parameters, applies those inputs to a spatial disorientation model, and makes a prediction of when pilot may become spatially disoriented. Once the system predicts a potentially disoriented pilot, the sensitivity for alerting the pilot to conditions exceeding a threshold can be increased and allow for an earlier alert to mitigate the possibility of an incorrect control input.

Abstract:
A method for determining convective cell growth from weather radar reflectivity data includes receiving first weather reflectivity values and receiving second weather reflectivity values at a point in time subsequent to receiving the first weather reflectivity values, storing the first and second weather reflectivity values in cells of a three-dimensional buffer, for each of the first and second weather reflectivity values, calculating a vertically-integrated reflectivity (VIR) value for a column of cells in the three-dimensional buffer, the column of cells being associated with a latitude/longitude position, and comparing the VIR value for the second weather reflectivity values against the VIR for the first weather reflectivity values to determine a difference in the VIR values. Furthermore, the method includes displaying a cell growth hazard indication at a weather display in an area of the weather display that corresponds to the latitude/longitude position.
Abstract:
An adaptive non-invasive alternating current brain stimulation system and method includes supplying transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) from a tACS source to a person, and receiving electroencephalogram (EEG) signals from EEG sensors disposed on the person, where the EEG signals including stimulation interference. The received EEG signals are processed using an adaptive model to estimate the stimulation interference in the EEG signals. The estimated stimulation interference is subtracted from the EEG signals to estimate neural oscillations of the person. The estimated neural oscillations are processed through an autoregressive model to generate predictions of future neural activity of the person and, based on the generated predictions, one or more electrical characteristics of the tACS being supplied to the person are varied to thereby modulate the neural oscillations of the person.
