Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for monitoring sensors and other data sources and detecting data anomalies. One exemplary method involves determining a probable range for a metric influenced by a behavior a sensor based at least in part on historical data associated with the sensor, identifying an anomalous condition with respect to the sensor based on a relationship between a current value for the metric indicative of a current behavior of the sensor and the probable range, and providing a graphical indication of the anomalous condition on a display device.
Abstract:
A system and method provide feedback regarding the confirmation of automated and operator assigned tasks, wherein one of the operator tasks and automation tasks includes a value for a parameter. The operator task and automation task that includes the value is rendered subsequent to being accomplished if the value does not match the parameter.
Abstract:
A system and method intelligently mines information and briefs an aircrew on conditions outside the aircraft. A mission information manager proactively mines incoming data sources, filters for relevance to current flight, retrieves the most up-to-date information, dynamically selects an appropriate format based on perceptual/cognitive affordances of content, and presents integrated, intuitive data that allows the flight crew to rapidly acquire relevant awareness of conditions outside the aircraft. An expert mission model system reviews incoming information for any situations that are of immediate mission concern. The system presents this information to the flight crew's attention while they have the greatest operational flexibility. Additionally, a human factors module provides decision aiding for select critical phases while taking into account information both outside and inside the aircraft.
Abstract:
A method for assessing and responding to a level of awareness of a flight crew member onboard an aircraft is provided. The method assesses an eye-scanning behavior of the flight crew member to determine whether the flight crew member is aware of a system-initiated change to a flight parameter; and when the flight crew member is not aware of the system-initiated change, orients the flight crew member to the system-initiated change.
Abstract:
A method of operating an aircraft during a flight is provided. An onboard monitoring subsystem of the aircraft detects that a flight crew member is fatigued, and an automated flight crew training exercise is activated in response to detecting that the flight crew member is fatigued. The flight crew member is then engaged with the automated flight crew training exercise, including instructions intended to alleviate flight crew fatigue.
Abstract:
Methods and system are provided for managing speech processing in an environment having at least two speech enabled systems. In one embodiment, a method includes: recording first user data that indicates an action of a user; determining, by a processor, a selection of a first speech enabled system based on the recorded user data; and generating, by the processor, a signal to at least one of activate and deactivate speech processing based on the first speech enabled system.

Abstract:
A system and method provide situational awareness for a pilot of an ownship in managing the longitudinal interval from an aircraft from which the ownship is following and maintaining the ownship within performance limits by displaying an airspeed bar containing markers representing the ownship minimum and maximum airspeeds, the ownship indicated airspeed, and a commanded interval management airspeed (CIMS) for providing speed situational awareness. A flight management system modifies the CIMS in response to a distance between the aircraft and the ownship. An optional pointer attached to the marker representing the CIMS indicates a trend in the in the CIMS.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for displaying visualizations of a vehicle's capability with respect to an input query corresponding to a prospective action to modify operation of the vehicle. One method involves identifying one or more input query parameters, obtaining current status information for the vehicle, identifying one or more performance constraints for the vehicle, and determining a capability envelope for the vehicle for satisfying the one or more input query parameters for the prospective action based at least in part on the current status information and the one or more performance constraints. The capability envelope includes a plurality of potential trajectories for the vehicle different from a reference trajectory for the vehicle. The method provides graphical indicia of the one or more input query parameters and the capability envelope with respect to the reference trajectory on a navigational map display.
