The traction control performs control of application of braking force for respective driving wheel independently of each other so that wheel traction recovering efficiency at respective driving wheel can be optimized.

The disclosure relates to a dual-mode bus which is operable on a guideway under automatic control and also operable on ordinary surface streets or highways under the control by a bus driver. The dual-mode bus comprises a rear axle having at both ends thereof traction wheels, a frame supported on the axle and a current collector. A floating support is connected between a differential gear housing of the rear axle and the frame and has two spaced portions, first one of which is disposed nearer to the axle than second one of the two spaced portions thereof. An arm having two spaced portions is provided, first one and second one of which are connected to the first and second portions of the floating support, respectively. The arm carries the current collector at a third portion spaced on the same side as the first portion of the arm, from the second portion of the arm. The third portion is spaced, further than the first portion of said arm, from the second portion of the arm. Two parallel links having the same length pivotally interconnects the corresponding portions of the arm and the floating support and means is provided for selectively urging the collector on the arm to its extended operative position and moving the collector to its stored inoperative position.

One of the maps is selected depending upon wheel slippage in such a manner that a map having a greater engine speed variation rate with respect to variation of an accelerator position is selected while the wheel slippage is maintained smaller than a predetermined target slippage, and a map having a smaller engine speed variation rate is selected while wheel slippage is greater than the predetermined target slippage. The selected map is compared with a map previously selected at a preceding timing which is variable depending upon a lag time of engine response.

A system and method for controlling a rotation of drive wheels for a vehicle in which a slippage (slip rate in percentage) between the drive wheels and a road surface on which the vehicle runs is calculated on the basis of a drive wheel rotation speed and a vehicle body speed, a plurality of different predetermined slippages, each representing a magnitude of a slip occurrence are stored, and a plurality of different characteristic graphs, each representing a relationship between opening angles of a first throttle valve associated with an accelerator and of a second throttle valve installed in series with the first throttle valve in an intake air passage of a vehicular engine are stored. Then, one of the characteristic graphs is selected to use the control of the opening angle of the throttle valve according to a change of the slip occurrence in such a way that when the slippage increases and exceeds one of the predetermined slippages, the opening angle of the second throttle valve is decreased toward its fully close position with respect to that of the first throttle valve and when the slippage decreases and becomes below one of the predetermined slippages, the opening angle of the second throttle valve is increased with time toward its original fully open position.

A system and method for electronically controlling a vehicular engine operation in accordance with an accelerator operation which can utilize a system for automatically controlling a vehicle speed to a set cruising speed are disclosed in which an operating variable selection mechanism which selects and outputs one of operating variables whose value is larger than the other operating variable, the operating variables being derived from an accelerator and from an actuator of the automatic vehicle cruise controlling system is installed. The selected operating variable of the operating variable selection mechanism is detected by means of an accelerator sensor. A throttle actuator is controlled for driving the throttle valve toward the direction in which an opening angle of the throttle valve coincides with a target opening angle which is defined by a detected variable of the accelerator sensor. A limiter provided for limiting a maximum opening angle of the throttle valve is driven by means of a limiter driving mechanism toward the angular position of the throttle valve corresponding to the selected operating variable of the operating variable selection mechanism and is held thereat against the driving force of the throttle actuator by means of a limiter holding mechanism.
