Abstract: A projection type display system having an optical modulation unit which modulates light from a light source in response to preselected video signal data, a projection lens system for projecting the modulated light onto a display screen, and a focal adjustment device which is configured to alter the focal state of a resulting image which is focused onto the screen. The focal state is adjusted by translating the relative position of one or more lenses in the projection lens system with respect to the screen. The focal adjustment device further incorporates a range finding unit which determines the distance between the projection lens system and the targeted display screen, typically using a beam of invisible light, and an automatic adjustment element which adjusts the focal point of the projection lens system to optimally match the determined distance.

Abstract: When the step of transferring a ceramic green sheet held on a chuck head having a holding surface with a plurality of vacuum ports distributed thereon onto a depositing table is repeated to obtain a laminated product, undesired deformation or damage is produced on the ceramic green sheet due to negative pressure applied to the chucking port and an obtained monolithic ceramic electronic component becomes defective by aligning of portions having the deformation or the damage in the depositing direction. In order to solve this problem, when transferring of the ceramic green sheet is repeated in the depositing step, the relative positions of the chuck head and the depositing table are shifted so as to bringing the chucking port into the same position during a first transferring step and a subsequent second transferring step.

Abstract: An order-taking terminal device enables a customer to order food, but can respond rapidly to changes and additions to the menu. When this terminal device starts up, it receives an operating program and image data from main management equipment. The order-taking terminal device stores the thus received operating program and image data and displays a menu screen on a display screen on the basis of the thus stored operating program and image data.

Abstract: A plurality of ceramic green sheets having printed strip inner electrodes patterns, each including a thick portion at a width-direction center and thin portions at respective width-direction sides of the thick portion, are laminated so that the thin portions overlap and the thick portions do not overlap to form an unfired mother laminated body. This unfired mother laminated body is cut along predetermined cut lines that are vertical to each other to obtain a plurality of unfired ceramic element assemblies. By applying ceramic paste to cover exposed portions of inner electrode patterns exposed to lateral surfaces, side gap areas are formed between a first inner electrode pattern and first and second lateral surfaces of the unfired ceramic element assembly and between a second inner electrode pattern and the first and second lateral surfaces.

Abstract: An image reading device reads a document using a plurality of reading modes including a sheet-through reading mode for reading a document at a fixed reading position while the document is automatically fed. The image reading device includes a first resolution changer, a second resolution changer, and a resolution setting unit. The first resolution changer changes one of a linear velocity at which the document is fed and a traveling speed of a reading carriage to change a resolution at which the document is read in a sub-scanning direction. The second resolution changer electrically interpolates image data output from the first resolution changer to change a resolution of the image data. The resolution setting unit provides a plurality of combinations of resolution change rates between the resolution changers as resolution change modes and sets the resolution changers to one of the combinations of resolution change rates.
