Abstract:
An organic photovoltaic device includes an anode and a cathode. The organic photovoltaic device includes an active layer between the anode and the cathode. The active layer includes a p-type material. The p-type material includes a donor-acceptor (DA) polymer. An acceptor unit of the DA polymer includes a functionalized pyranopyran-dione compound or a functionalized naphthyridine-dione compound.
Abstract:
A polymer network for 3D printing has a first polymer and a second polymer. The first polymer and the second polymer are crosslinked by a photo-crosslink. The first polymer and the second polymer are independently selected from polylactic acid, poly(acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), polystyrene, nylon, high density polyethylene, polycarbonate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene terephthalate, and thermoplastic polymers.
Abstract:
Liquid-cooled heat sink assemblies are provided which include: a heat transfer element including a heat transfer base with opposite first and second sides and a plurality of thermally conductive fins extending from the first side, and with the second side of the heat transfer base to couple to a component(s) to be cooled. The heat sink assembly further includes a coolant-carrying structure attached to the heat transfer element. The coolant-carrying structure includes a coolant-carrying base, and a coolant-carrying compartment through which liquid coolant flows. The coolant-carrying base includes a plurality of fin-receiving openings sized and positioned for the plurality of thermally conductive fins to extend therethrough. The plurality of thermally conductive fins extend into the coolant-carrying compartment through which the liquid coolant flows. In one or more embodiments, the heat transfer element is a metal structure and the coolant-carrying structure is a plastic structure.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for removing bubbles from a molten substrate. The molten substrate from a furnace passes through a downtube to reach additional manufacturing tools, such as an extrusion bushing. One or more ultrasonic sensors are arranged along the downtube. The ultrasonic sensor(s) transmit ultrasonic energy into the molten substrate and measure a characteristic of the ultrasonic energy, such as a propagation time for the ultrasonic energy to be reflected back to the ultrasonic sensor(s). A bubble is detected when a change in the characteristic of the ultrasonic energy is detected. When a bubble is detected, flow through the downtube is diverted to a duct to remove a slug of molten substrate that includes the bubble.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a composition is provided that includes an indenofluorene moiety; an alkyl radical, an aryl radical, or a heteroaryl radical chemically bound to the indenofluorene moiety; and an electron donor moiety bound to the indenofluorene moiety. In another embodiment, a device is provided that includes compositions described herein. In another embodiment, a method of forming a donor-acceptor small molecule or a donor-acceptor copolymer is provided that includes forming an indenofluorene moiety; forming an electron donor moiety; and reacting the indenofluorene moiety with the electron donor moiety in a cross-coupling reaction.
Abstract:
Materials and methods for preparing a payload-containing microcapsule with walls that have hexahydrotriazine (HT) and/or hemiaminal (HA) structures are disclosed. To an HT small molecule or a HA small molecule, or a combination thereof, in a solvent is added a cross-linking agent, NH4Cl, and a copolymer. The solution is acidified, and a payload agent is added. The HT small molecule and HA small molecule may have orthogonal functionality.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure generally provide compositions and methods related to articles that display reversible photoresponsive behavior.
Abstract:
A composition, comprising a poly(methylene lactide) polymer covalently linked to a hexahydrotriazine unit or a hemiaminal unit, and methods of making such a composition, are described herein. In one embodiment, the poly(methylene lactide) polymer comprises a plurality of poly(methylene lactide) chains, and at least a portion of the poly(methylene lactide) chains are cross-linked by one or more of the hexahydrotriazine units, the hemiaminal units, or a combination thereof.
